How- ever, there are 516 members and there is' room for all of them to attend. The president, Mrs. C. M. Shearing will appreciate a full at- tendance at the next meeting on May 6. , The ether table given in memory of Miss Winnie O'Neil was shown to the members and Miss -Dell O'Neil graciously thanked the members :for this gift to the hos- pital. Plans were made for the tag day on May 10, and for the penny sale and draw on October 4. A letter of thanks will be sent to Lorne Brown, who offered • the proceeds of one night at drive- in theatre toward `the work of the auxiliary. Four members volunteered to assist in the Cancer campaign for funds on April 14; Mrs. A. Roddy, Mrs. H. Ball, Mrs. D. Ball and Mrs. Shearing. Tickets for a dance on April 11 were on sale. Proceeds of this is to help buy'a washing machine for the Nurses residence. Mrs. H. Ball will take a carload of members to the Regional meet- ing in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon- don, on April 9. Refreshments were served, and then members worked preparing tags and boxes for the Penny ,Sale. VARNA Special services are being held each evening this week in Varna and Goshen United Churches, with the pastor, Rev. T, 3. Pitt in charge, The Easter and Communion Ser- vice in the United Church will be held on Sunday morning at 10,15, About 20 young people from Goshen and Varna went to Wing- ham last Sunday afternoon to take part in "Sing Time" on C7KNX 'IV. Congratulations and best wishes go to Mrs. Donald MacKenzie, Sr„ who on Friday passed her 92nd birthday. She was the recipient of many cards, flowers and gifts, and of course there was the tradi- tional birthday cake for the oc- casion, Owing to the fact that Mrs. MacKenzie is confined to bed, the, day was spent quietly. Roddick, re- turned to "Century House," their home here on Monday, after hav- ing spent three months in Tucson, Arizona. During that time, they motored to California for a week. Mrs. J. H. Cobb and Mrs. F. Lyttle, arrived at- the former's home in the village on Wednesday night of last week, after an absen- ce of two months, They spent some time in Tucson, Arizona, and a week in California, They visit- ed the Grand Canyon, Mrs: Lyttle went on to Toronto on Thursday. Services in Trinity Church will be as follows: GOod Friday, Children's Service at 10 a.m., Litany and Sermon 8 p.m. Easter Day, 8 a.m. Holy Communion; 10 a.m. Child- ren's service and presentation of Lenten Offering; 11 a,m. Holy Communion. The Easter Day ser- vice scheduled for the St. John's Church, Varna, will also be held in Trinity Church at 7 p.m. Purchase "Model" Cottage Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scotchmer attended- the recent Sportsmen Show in Toronto. There they pur- chased one of the cottages on dis- play in the Colisetm. After the show it was taken apart, loaded on trucks Mid brought to Bayfield without even one pane of glass being broken. In 15 hours three men had completed erecting it on the Scatchmer's lot on the corner of0Elizahet4 and Main streets. It is 20x30 feet, quite modern in design. The front is almost en- tirely glass with sliding doors. The living room is complete and the other rooms in the course of being finished. Corporal Lloyd Westlake, OPP, Kitchener, was here from Friday until 'Monday. His wife and two children returned home after hav- ing been with her ,parents, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Toms for ten days, during which time Master Ricky Westlake Underwent a tonsillectomy in Clinton Public Hospital. Mrs. King likes to receive Jett ters from friends with news of the . village. Although her eyesight is failing and she regrets that she , can no longer read books or news., PapPrS, she still writes interesting letters whiqh. she 'avows she can- not read herself, and even though, her activities have of a necessity been curtailed since she broke her hip over a year 'ago, and due to impaired eyesight and hearing, - Mrs. King is thankful that she still enjoys three meals a day.
