with 1$ members present, It was
deeided to hold a birthday party
again this year in May, and to [in-
vite local lodges to help celebrate
the event, A special speaker Will be
invited, and numerous other plane
will be worked out, The card
party advertised for next week,
April 1, is cancelled, it being holy
week.

Meets At
Houghton Home
The March meeting of the Moth-
ers' Study Group of Wesley-Wil-
lis United Church, was held on
Tuesday evening at the home of
Mrs, Larry Naughton. Mrs. clay-
ton Keys was in charge and open-
ed with a poem on Easter. Mrs.
Livermore read the Scripture
which was followed by the Lord's
Prayer.
Mrs. Bill Holland gave two en-
joyable raimbers on the accordion.
Roll call was answered by some-
thing :pertaining to Easter. Mrs.
Edwin Cooper and Mrs, Haugh-
ton favoured with a duet on the
harmonica. and violin, accompanied
by Mrs. Fremlin. Mrs, Keys chose
as her topic "The Easter Story"
and this was very much enjoyed.
The meeting closed with the ben-
ediction and a contest was conduc-
ted.
St. Andrew's WMS
Regular Meeting
Mrs. R. W. McKenzie presided
for the Woniens' Missionary Soc-
iety meeting of St. Andrew's Pres-
byterian Church, held on Tues-
day afternoon at the home of Mrs.
M. D. McTaggart. After the call
to worship Mrs. William Shaddock
and Mrs, MoTaggart read the les-
son and offered prayer.
An invitation to Seaforth and
Hensel]. for Easter Thankoffering
meetings was accepted. Mrs. D.
J. 'Lane will be a delegate to the
Synodical Society WMS of Hamil-
ton and London meeting in Learn-
ington_on April 15, 16, and 17.
Mrs. J. R. Makins read an art-
icle, "East meets West in Japan".
"This is Japan" from the study
book, was conducted by Mrs. John
Snider. A Bible quiz was led by
Mrs, Robert Scott, The president
closed the meeting with prayer
and a social hour was spent with
Mrs. Bertha McLennan assisting
the hostess.
Goderich Township
The Women's Auxiliary of. St,
James' Church, Middleton will
meet at the home of Mrs. Alfred
Hudie on Wednesday afternoon,
April 2.
Mr. and Mrs. Earland Betties,
Toronto, were called home on Fri-
day, owing to the illnes's of his
mother, who is a patient in Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospit-
al, Goderich, and they are stay-
ing with his brother Allen Battles,
This is one of the best sap
years in history, as there is frost
every night and never a warm
day to start the buds. However,
there is nobody making it in a
commercial way, since help is so
scarce.

Little Girl Hurt

Three-year-old Joanne Mehiyk,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs, Thimas
Melnyk of the RCAF Station
Clinton, was taken to War Mem-
orial Children's Hospital, London,
after an accident at the station.
Joanne suffered head injury in
an accident which occurred Fri-
day night in the PMQ's (Adastral
Park).
She was found lying beneath a
car driven by Mrs. Jeannette Cal-
ve, also of the RCAF .station, who
had stopped her car to allow a
group of children' to cross the
street, police said.
After they passed she started
up, felt a bump, and stopped again
after moving only three feet. Con-
stable Robert Sims; of the Goder-
ich OPP detachment, investigated.

'The March meeting of the Gosh-
en United- Church Woman's So-
ciety was held at the home of
Mrs, James Keys with 22 members
present. The meeting opened with
the hymn "The Head That Once
was Crowned with Thorns% Phil-
ippians 4: 1-9 was read. by Mrs.
Arnold Keys. •
Mrs. R. Robinson led in prayer. Mn, Elmer Kayter, the president,
was in charge of the business. An
invitation from Egmont:M-11e, to
join them for their master Thank-
offering, Was accepted. Mrs, Elmer
Hayter and Mrs. •RObert Peck will
be the visiting committee for the
coming month,
Mrs. Pitt read a poem on temp-
erance. The study book on Japan
was taken by Mrs. Allan Arm-
strong, Mrs. James Keys and Mrs.
Arnold Keys. - The meeting closed
with the hymn, "Lead Kindly
Light" and Mrs. Allan Armstrong
pronounced the .benediction.
