Sewing Project
The Girls' Club of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church. met in the
Sunday School room on Tuesday
evening with 15 in attendance.
Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe gave the
Scripture reading and The Lord's
'Prayer was repeated in unison.
Roll call was answered by "A Bib-
le verse containing the word lover'
Mre. D. J. Lane made a sugges-
tion to the members that at the
June meeting the club begin a
'project of sewing articles of baby's
clothing to be sent to the Arm-
agh Home in Toronto.
Mrs. Gordon Sutcliffe -read a
portion from the Study Book en-
titled "Faith." The members, 'un-
der the direction of Mrs. Lane,
made several cancer dressings to
be used at the hospital.
Hostesses for the lunch were.
Miss Anne Shaddoelt, Miss Mabel
Harvey and Mrs. Fred Anderson,
Jr.

two-day short course here in ,Cl-
triton Wednesday and to-day, te
prepere tbemselve.e. as leaders of
the Homemaking cliibs in
their spring project, This, is en„
titled 'The. Club Girl Stands on,
Guard,"
Led by Miss Shirley Petterrepl,
home economist for Huron and
Bruce Counties; the women; who
are representatives of the, 'Women
en's Institutes throughout . the
county, were instructed' in the
method of presentation of the
projeet, is designed to teach
the need for improved 'health hab-
its; arouse a desire for physical
and mental fitness; arouse inter-
est in family and community wel-
fare; help make the girls aware
of the connection between good
health and good citizenship; en-
courage the girls to work to el-
iminate hazards in the home; to
teach' simple first aid principles;
to provide an opportunity for girls
to work together' for mutual ben-
efit.
Two projects are undertaken by
these volunteer ladies each year.
The winter project was the "Wool
Skirt", and each. of the Club mem-
bers made one.,

SEAFORTH TO GO ON DST
SUNDAY, APRIL 27
The town of Seaforth has set
dates for Daylight Saving Time.
They will commence. on April 27,
at 12.01 a.m. and it will end on
October 26, at 12.01 a.m. This is
in accordance with a recommen-
dation from the Canadian Feder-
ation of Mayors and Municipalit-
ies for uniform switch to DST.
Rev, D. J. Lane officiated on
Tuesday afternon, at ttmoral
of Mrs. Thomas Beattie, Seaforth,
who passed away suddenly in
Scott Memorial Hospitel on Sun-
day. She was in her 81st year.

A skating party was hel4 by the
Sunday School of Ontario Street
United Church on Tuesday after-
noop, Clinton Lions Arena, fol-
lowed by supper served in the
church 'hall. Over 75 children,
`with A. few mothers of 'the primary
children, were served. The film
"The Pony" was shown.
At an executive meeting after-
wards, the seperintendant presid-
ed, and 22 members attended. The
resignation of Mrs. Batkin "from,
among the teachers was accepted
with regret, and the New Teacher
Committee made plans to fill the
vacancy. The next meeting will
be held oh April 3.

Tuesday with the president, Mrs.
W. S. R. Holmes presiding,.
Mrs. W.- B. Olde was in charge
of the devotions. •
Arrangements were made for
the Easter Thankoffering meeting
on; April 8, as well as for the
Presbyterial dinner in April.
Mrs. Charlie Brown contributed
a piano solo and Mrs. Mervyn Bat-
kin- two readings.

the instructor at the millinery .
course sponsored. by Kippen East
Women's Institute at 'the home
of Mrs. W. „I', F. Bell, Kippen.
The eourse lasted three days.
Thirteen members made hats,
some making, as many as three.
and all completing at least one.
Taking part in the 'project were

At the end of the course Mrs.
Mulligan was' presented with a
cup and saucer by Mrs, Stewart
Pepper.. Mrs. Bell was presented
with a lace tablecloth by Mrs.
Kyle on' behalf of the Kippen
Institute.
Mrs. Robert Muir
Mrs. Robert Muir, wife "of the
late , Robert Muir, died at the
honie of her daughter, Mrs, Wil-
liam Mugford, Newgate Street,
Goderich, on Saturday, March 8.
She was in her 94th year.
Born 'in the Orkney Islands, she
was the former Margaret Bruce,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Bruce. She came to Can-
ada 75 years ago and lived near
Brucefield before coming to Gode-
rich, where she had resided for
the past 65 years. She was a
member of Knox 'Presbyterian
Church and one of the eldest
I members of 'the Octogenarian
Club in Goderich,
She is survived by one daught-
er, Mrs. William (Ina) Mugford,
Goderich; seven grandchildren and
nine great grandchildren. Her hus-
band died in. 1943. Two sons, Jdhn
and Charles, also predeceased her.
Service was from the Lodge
funeral home, Goderich. Rev. R.
G. MacMillan of Knox Presbyter-
ian Church officiated. Burial was
in Maitland Cemetery. 0

His 70th Birthday
The family of Mr. and Mrs. W.
R. "Bert" Lobb, met at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Crich (nee
Margaret Lobb) to celebrate the
70th birthday of Mr. Lobb. It was
possible for 47 of the 49 members
of the family to be present and a
most enjoyable time was spent by
all.
The evening was filled with con-
tests, games and a full concert of
music by violin and piano, accor-
ian, duets, quartettes, as well as
recitations and a rousing family
sing song.
A. briefcase was presented to
Mr. Labb by two of the wee
grandchildren, Burt Lobb, Bruce-
field and Roy Docking, Staffa, on
behalf of all the grandchildten.
The ladies served a bounteous lun-
ch, topped off with a huge birth-
day cake and ice cream. Mr. and
Mrs. Lobb have al..grandchildren.

In "B" Division, Blow Outs first
place with 98 points, Hits and
Misses 73 points, Bombers 72 poin-
ts, Blowers 70 points, Zippers 68
points.

for high triple with a score of
623 while Mrs. J. Stamm took
high single honours with a score
of 241,

The March Meeting of the Wes-
leysWillils -United Church Woman's
Association was held in the manse,
with over 30 members present.
The president Mrs, F. Andrews
presided and opened the meeting.
Mrs. S. A. IVIeKim read the Scrip-
ture lesson. Mrs, W. Nott read
the thoughts on the lesson and
Mrs. F. Reid took the prayer.
The social committee reported
two or three dinners coming up
for them to cater to. A commit-
tee was' formed to make plans for
the St. Patrick's Bazaar and tea.
Mrs. Hearn gave the manse re-
port.
Mrs. D. Andrews sang "Mother
Macbree". .A. discussion took
place regarding joining the Pres-
byterial Woman's Association and
members voted to join.

The Clinton Women's Progres-
sive Conservative Association held
their regular meeting at the home
, 'of Mrs. D. Freeman, on March 7,
'with Mrs. F. G. Thompson; presi-
dent, in charge. Mrs. T.. Steeps
read the minutes and the financial
statement.
Accounts were passed for pay-
ment, and discussion was held re-
garding the possibilities of hold-
ing a banquet. Following the
meeting a social was held and pri-
zes were awarded to Mrs. John
Butler and Mrs. John Turner.
