Safe Way To Crash
WHAT IS Tire BEST way to crash?
The good driver knows what to do with himself
when a collision is imminent; and makes sure
his family knows, •
It can happen to anyone. There are few
hospital wards that.havo not heard of the un-
deserved accidents of self-satisfied drivers; many .
of them did nothing but take a curve at an
Obviously safe speed to be 'run into suddenly,
without provocation, by a tree.
Some, parents teach their families "eel-
Iisian drill"., a signal the children in the
baCk seat ((doors locked; '- of course) hit the
floor. if in .front slides forward, braces
4err head against the seat, grasps the back of
the seat vvtith both hands behind her head, braces
her knees .againit the instrument panel; junior,
from the same seat next to the driver, would
put his feet on the •instrument panel instead
of knees.
Father at the wheel, in a real crash,
should stay on the brake until the last moment
and then, as the impact occurs, should swing
his legs' up. on the seat beside libn; this reduces
the likelihood of getting his legs crushed as
the forward compartment wraps around the
engine. He has to act fast, but he should cut
the ignition at the seine time to leasen the
danger of fire.
The main danger from a rear-end col-
lision is the "whiplash" that dislocates necks.
Anyone realizing the imminence of, the crash
should brace the neck with hands and seat back.
!Scientific research on cars involved in
fatal accidents has established that the average
speeds of the cars at the moment of impact with
a stationary object was 40 rn.p.h,

Dinnin Editor,
Dear Wilma:
The Board of Directors at their
regUlar meeting held last Friday
evening instructed me to write a
letter of apprediation of the won-
dean' job you did in the special
edition of last week's paper feat-
uring our Credit Union. All Dir-
ectors and committee members
alike are delighted with the re-
sults and we -have had many faN-
+Durable comments from both
members and non-members alike.
This morning before nine o'clock,
we had three new mentbers wait-
ing to open up accounts and we
certainly feel that the wonderful
publicity you have given to us has
had a great deal to do with this.
As one of our valued members,
I am sure that you are as pleas-
ed as we are with these results
and we thank you most sincerely
for your wonderful help and co-
operation. ll Very truly yours,

GREAT OFFENCE
Editor, `News-Record,
It has been my understanding
that the greatest offence in lit-
erature is to be guilty of mis-
quotation.
From whence do you derive the
quotation, "The law is an ass?"
Are you by any chance refer-
ring to the wards Charles Dickens
put into the mouth of the lud-
icrous Mr. Bumble, beadle of the
parish workhouse, in his book Ol-
iver Twist?"
Mr. Bumble on being informed
that the law supposes that his
wife acts under his direction, has
this to say, "If the law supposes
that," said Mr. Bumble, "the law
is a ass—a idiot. If that's- the eye
of the law, the law's a bachelor;
and the worst I wish the law is,
his eye may be opened by exper-
ience-by experience."
Words of a quotation removed
rom their content present a dis-
torted and untrue picture. Besides,
words Charles Dickens put into

Everybody gets a bit run-down now and

The four gospels and the Book
of Acts have been printed in three
major tribal languages spoken in
the hills, Radee, Hobo, and Joral.
The entire New4 Testament is
ready for 'the press in Radee. The
gospel of St. Mark hag also been
published in Chru and Bahnar, two
other of the 60 dialects spoken in

In addition to this translation
activity the British and Foreign
