Take medicine, for example, In World War I, if a soldier got a "blightly", just enough of a wound to put him, out of action, back he went to England, happy as a pig in the proverbial. In World War II, unless he was shot to ribbons, they filled him with blood plasina and penicillin, and before he could say: "I tell you I'm a dying man," he was back with his unit in the front lines. * Or take my sore back. I've had a sore back for about three mon- ths. Now, if my grandfather had had a sore back, hed have got my grandmother to rub liniment on it and wrap it in flannel. If my fath- er had had a sore back, he'd have dropped in to see the 'family doc- tor, swapped curling stories, may- be had a snort of cordial with him, and gone home with some pills., quite happy. * Not me. Not in this scientific common as cowboy singers, I have age, 'when slipped discs are as to, go to a specialist. Remember that. It's a sure way to recognize consistent good driving, And if it isn't consistent, it isn't good; Apply that definition and you will spot- light bad driving of every degree; from racing at 90 m,p.h. with a blaring horn, to cluttering, upg, windows with dice and baby hoots, Following too elosely, cutting-in, lane straddling, passing on curves are all conspicu- ous—and all bad driving, So is loafing along a busy highway at 35 m.p;ii.;" delaying hiindreds by parking on main theroughfares at rush hours; pumping the horn in a traffic jam; stalling and bumping when trying to park. A driver is conspicuous when his name is called out in police court; when he has to ad- mit to friends that his licence has been suspen- ded;' and he is very, very conspicuous when a crowd gathers to see' him helped out of an auto- mobile wreck. Everything' the man-et-the-wheel does that attracts undue attention is bad driving. "A good drivdr Is inconspicuous at all times". PAYS TO BE WATCHFUL It will be necessary for farmers, and townspeople alike, when they are asked , to sign right-of-way across their land, that they read the fine print, and make use of the rights which are theirs. Laws are in existence to protect -the property owner. But they will only be of use if the property owner knOws about them and acts accordingly. We are not trying to suggest that the gas companies wilfully lower the value of prop- erty. But, it seems that where the pipelines are laid, there is a considerable lowering of property values. If you need more room for the childrep, more alaroend convenience for everybody in the home, a spare room for visitors : . or if you simply need more space for relaxation, don't let a shortage of ready cash stop you from going ahead with building plans now. You can build an extra room in the attic or enlarge your house with a B of M Home Improvement Loan.
