17th Year With Rev. j. Lane
A good attendance of the mem-
bers and adherents of St. And-
rew's Presbyterian Church took
part in -the annual congregational
meeting,
The minister of. the .cehgrega,
time now in his 17th year with
this congregation, Rev, D, ej,
Lane, constituted the meeting by
Scripture reading and prayer; fele
lowing whiph by vote of those
present, Royce Macaulay acted as
the chairman and Frank Mutch
Was appointed secretary. •
Reports were given of the Kirk
Session; managers board; WIVIS;
Women's Association; Girls' Club;
Men's Chib:„.arel Church School,
all most gtisfactoey. Increased
attendance at the, regular worship
was noted in the Kirk Session re,
port, and an addition in member-
ship was made. The church
school report made by the sup-
erintendent, K. W. Coiquhoun
was encouraging. It was decided
that a mixed youth _clue be forme
ed to, serve the 'teenage group,
and a unique challenge was there-
by made 'to?. an efficient leader
for this new group.
The Bluebells of Clinton will
gather at th home of Mrs. Frank
Finglaud on Saturday afternoon,
February 1, at three o'clock,
The girls and their leader offer
their thanks to all their friends
in Clinton, and also to a former
'Clinton citizen- who have made it
possible to 1e-outfit all the girls
and sustain the organiZatioln which
has been through fire, The Blue-
bells will be. one year old- on
March 28, 1958.
Brindley-Gow
A wedding was solemnized at
the United Church manse, Exeter,
when Rev. Harold Snell united in
marriage Miss Violet Emma. Gow,
younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William Gow, RR 2, Auburn, and
Leonard Russell Brindley, only
son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brin-
dIey,' RR 3, Auburn:
- The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a waltz-length
dress of nylon net and lace. The
moulded lace bodice and a top in-
sert of pleated net extending be-
low the waistline. The bouffant
net skirt had rows of 'net ruffled
braid. The cellar of her long-
sleeved jacket was trimmed with
sequins and simulated pearls.
She carried a bouquet 'of pink
carnations and white chrysanthe-
mums,
For her daughterIS wedding,
Mrs. Gow wore a dress of navy
blue rayon with a pink rose cor-
sage. The bridegroom's mother
wore a dress of wine velvet with a
yellow rose corsage.
A wedding dinner was held at
the Armstrong .restaurant, Exeter.
Leaving on a wedding trip to
Niagara Falls, the bride wore a
short-sleeved red bengaline dress
with matching jacket, On their
return they will live half a mile
west of Auburn,
A miscellaneous pre - nuptial
shower was held in the Sunday
school ' room • of Knox United
Church for Misg Gow. Mrs. Jack
Armstrong was in charge.
A sing-long was led by Mrs.
Gordon McClinchey,' with Mrs. R.
J. Phillips at the piano, two con-
tests were held; and Miss Shirley
Turner gave a reading. Miss Car-
ol Armstrong read an address;
and the gifts were brought in by
Joan Mills, Betty Durmn, Gail
Lockhart, Lila Deer and Mrs,
Harold McClinchey.

bell- Public .School for their reg-
ular meeting,
The president, Miss Edythe Bea-
coin, opened the meeting by read-
ing an article on "Success," A
short sing-song with Miss Marion
Treibner at the piano followed,
Routine business was traneaeted
and it was decided to invite the
Seaforth Unit to the March meet-
ing. Roll cell was answered by
each teacher repeating a proverb
or maxim,
Wires Agnes Muleveney, program
conven.er, took charge of the re-
mainder of the meeting. At this
time a radio play, under the dir-
ection of ,.Miss Marjorie William-
son, and presented by a group of
her Grade 6 pupils, followed. The
young players Who ably depicted
scenes of pioneer life in Canada
were introduced to the audience.

interesting films -on raising child-
ren. These were entitled "The
Feeling of Hostility" and "He
Acts His Age." Mrs. Norman Hol-
land conducted a lively discussion
on these films. A social period
followed the meeting, Mrs. Gordon
Steepe conducted, a contest and
the hostesses served lunch,
