News
Six new scouts were invested at
the Boy Scout meeting in the Pub-
lic School, auditorium, last Wed-
nesday night, January 15. Paul
Nice, Jim. Hoy, Billy Graham,
Adrian de Coo, Teddy Leaker and
Bernie Scott each' received their
tenderfoot badges.
This' brings the boys into the
'brotherhood of Boy Scouts of Can-
ada.
Scoutmaster Frank Van Altena
handled the' investitures, and had
prepared for popcorn and dough-
nuts for the boys to eat while
they watched movies graciously
loaned, by the RCAF Station
ton.
The troop was honored to have
the distinguished District Com-
missioner, Ross' Collier, present,
and he- explained the meaning of
"Scouts honour" in a wonderful
talk to the Scouts.
Seven Scouts, Victor "Cyr, Pet-
er Thompson; Paul Van Altena,
Ron Clifford, Jim MacDonald,
Paul Bateman and Gordon Park-
er, received their second class a-
wards.

field. Agricultural Society held in
the Town Hall on January 15,
was well attended and -evinced

Douglas Miles, agricultural rep-

He also stated that very few
small societies 'were in as goad' a
financial standing as Bayfield'. -

and Robert McGregor, Kippen,
first vice-president of the South
Huron Agricultural Society when
that group held its annual meet-
ing in the New Commercial Hotel,
Hensall. Jim Doig, Seaforth, is
second vice-president and Jim
McGregor, Kippen, is secretary-
treasurer.

The" Society has" a bank balance of
$350.
An additibnal feature of the
1958 fair is a class for steer cal-
ves weighing between 700 and
'900 pounds, open to anyone in the
community, who wishes to sell
their calves, along with the boys
and girls of the Hensall Feeder
Calf Club. Special prizes will be
awarded. Directors are well sat-
isfied with the membership of the
calf club, who are allowed to buy
their awn calves this year, with
money supplied by the fair board.
