do, It used to be bad enough, but

not even too sure what my family

rink for hockey. before I was out,
of bed. When I got home at noon,'

for a bazaar`.or something and it
hadn't turned out, so she and the

I'd done thedishes, and they d all
got .dressed.

.zny wife had to go to a tea, so I
fixed Kirn up with a boyfriend for
a couple of hours playing at lila
house, before they went to ,the
late matinee for the •town kids•
Then I ,had:• to drive ugh and five
other ;boys,ito. their dancing lesson,
three miles, They had to be picked
up in an hour and droppedi at the
shone. My wife came in 'then • to
get -some money for shopping and
pick out her Christmas cards,
Then it was time to got the kids
and gat home, In an entire after-
noon, x had put in approximately
eight minutes ,at my desk, during

By nine p.m., after .gorging on
the delicious dinner I'd whipped
up, the socialtieS were all tired
out and retired 'to bed. 1 settled
dawn with a goed book for a
little peace. 1 was just starting
to get - the hypertension slowed

ears, -when there was such a crash
that I thought the Yanks had fin-
ally got their satellite away and
it had dropped through my roof.

I didn't think I had remembered
some of those wonderful Celtic

when he was down cellar and
thought Tay Mother couldn't hear
him, but I did, I almost added

wife called sleepily, after I'd:been
cleaning up mortar, plaster and
dust for half an.hour: "What in
the world are you fiddling around
in the bathroom for, don't you ever
know enough to cometo,bed?

Sunday morning early, Kim; who
is very religious and says the
Grace at all meals, started trying
to get everybody up so she would:
n't miss Sunday School. It was a-
bout 7 a.m., but 'she can't' tell: the
'me • too well, and she swore it
was 9.30. p I swore, too. She star-
ted to', awl: "You don't even
want me to be a Christian!" and
kept it up, the pitch rising stead-
ily, until sleep was impossible.

That afternoon, while putting
on storm' windows, I dropped, one
on my foot, which served me right
for doing .it on Sunday. But I
managed to limp around well
enough to get the dinner and do
the dishes, while the culture vul-
tures in the family were doing
their music lessons. About, ten
p.m. I sat down to write my
column and was found there, head
on' the' typewriter, sound asleep
and nothing written. • at 4 p.m., by
the Old Lady, who blasted me for
not getting enough rest, ;

Monday . was -miich the same,
the cosmopolitan crowd in, the fam-
ily arriving home after dark, from
their music lessons, sitting down
to the dinner I'd prepared, and
waving fondly to me, their cheeks
stuffed with venison steak, as I
dashed off to a meeting, apologiz-
ing because I hadn't time to help
withthe dishes.

I know of at least ten assorted
Christmas concerts, Christmas
parties,. bazaars and teas in the
next week or so. The mortgage
on the house is coming due. Tha
taxes- aren't paid. This morning
my wife announced she was going
tb do the spring cleaning, so the
house would be lovely for Christ-
mas.

Tomorrow morning they are` go-
ing to get up and find a note from
their short-order cook, stating that
he •laas taken a room at the hdtel
and will return to the bosom of
his family on 'Christmas Eve.

Hamilton
Mrs. 'David W. Hamilton died
Suddenly at her home in -Auburn
Tuesday morning from a heart at-
tack. She was in her 84th year.
She was the former Carmine,
Jane Church, daughter of the late
Mr, and Mrs, George Church, God-
erich Township. She was married
in December 1901 to D. W. Hain-
liton. Following their marriage
they farmed in Colborne Town-
ship, then at Clinton and later in
West Wawanosh, retiring to .Aub-
urn six years ago,
She was a member of St. Mark's
Anglican Church.
`Surviving besides her husband
are three. sons, Reginald, at home;
Norman, Goderich; Benson, Tor-
onto; three daughters, Mrs, Gor-
don R. (Celia) Taylor, Auburn;
Mrs. Marry (Viola) Andrews,
Lucknow; Mrs. Malcolm (Rita)
Allison; Parkhill; three sisters,
Mrs. Edwin (,4,bzina) Harney,
Goderich; Mrs. Fred (Cora) Doer„
Royal Oak, Mich,; Mrs. Robert
(Hattie) McAllister, Goderich
Township; three brothers, Carman
Church, Missions, Kansas; Wilbert,
Medicine Hat, Alta.; and LesterChurch, Girvin, Sask.Also surviv-
ing are 11 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
Resting at the J. IK, Arthur fun-
eral home, Auburn, until Thursday,
December 19, when funeral servic-
es will. •be held from St. Mark's
Anglican • Church, ,at 2.00 pan.'
Burial will be made in Colborne

For his spawn topic, Rev, Dan-
iel spoke : on "The Wise Men's
Gifts," The choir sang appropriate
music under direction of S. Ren-
nie, with Miss G, Laramie at the
church, organ. In charge of the
lovely decorations were Mrs,. Jack
Simmons, Mrs, Gordon Munn, Mrs,
Don Jpynt, Mrs. Ken Elder.
Arnold Circle
Mrs, Stewart Bell was hostess
for the Christmas meeting of the
Arnold. Circle of the Presbyterian
church, when worship was: led by
Mrs. Roy Bell and Mrs. Hoy read
from Luke 2: 9-15.
A beautiful Christmas message
was presented by Mrs. Bell, assis-
ted by Mrs. McEwen, Mrs. Sang-
ster and Mrs. S. 13e11,

the late IVIr. and Mrs. Robert Keys,

She lived in .Stanley Township:
until her marriage to Thomas A.
Elliott, ;Goderieh Township, in
January 1897 ;Following her i�us,
bands death in 1901,she contin-
ued to lave in Goderich Township,
when in 1915 she married Louie A,
Anderson, who predeceased her in
1938,
Following his death she Moved
to Goderich where she has since:
lived with her daughter, Mrs, Will,
Tarn Ellwood, •
She was a member of worth
Street United Church, Goderieh.
Mrs, Anderson is survived by her
daughter, Mrs. William (Lula) Ell-
wood and one granddaughter, Mary
Joyce Ellwood, Her last surviving
sister; Mrs. S. (Phoebe) Hanna,
Seaforth, has since passed away on
December 14,
