The Woman's Association of
Grace Church held their annual
meeting on Thursday last at the
home of Mrs. John Torrance. The
president, Mrs, A. Lockhart presi-
ded over the meeting Which open-
ed with singing "0, Little Town of
'Bethlehem" and repeating the
Lord's Prayer. The Scripture les-
son was read by Mrs. J. Bauer,
and the roll call was answered
with a gift for the Children's Aid,
Goderich. Secretary and treasur-
er's reports were given.
It was decided to give $35 to
the M. M. Fund and $100 to the
Board of Stewards. The president
thanked all for their co-operation
during the year and Mrs. Wilmer
Harrison moved a vote of thanks
to the president.

Of Mrs. Vic Taylor
Mrs. Vic Taylor was hostess for
the meeting of the Stanley Ladies'
Community Club on December 4.
16 members, six visitors and 11
children attended.
The president, Mrs. Ray Canto-
Ion was in the chair. Roll call was
answered with, "How Christmas is
spent in other countries." The col-
lection amounted to $6.06,
Five dollars' will be sent to the
T.B. Association. Plans were made
for a party to be held at the school
during the Christmas holidays.
An exchange of Christmas gifts
took place after the business ses-
sion. Lunch was served by the
hostess and her group.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mrs. Frank Mc-
Gowan, on January 8, and the
roll call to be "What gives me
pep.''

The annual Christmas turkey
shoot was held at Kippen, Sunday
afternoon, and was a great suc-
cess, though the weather was un-
favourable. Charles Parkinson,
Lonclan was high in the 50 target
race with ICharles Brandon, Clin-
ton, runner-up.
;Brandon was high over all on
75 targets, with John Anderson,
Hensall, and Mrs, Bertha Temple,
Hamilton, runners - up (tied).
Handicap .winners: Herb Moss,
Kitchener; John Anderson, Hen-
sail; H. Lamoureaux, Kitchener,
Miss and Out, first event, Don'
tIpps, Clinton; second event, T. J,
Sherritt, Hensall. Most turkeys
won by one ehoo•ter was Brandon,
Clinton, with three. The shoot
was sponsored by Kippen Gtin
Club.

Amber Rebekah. Lodge at their
meeting Wednesday evening, Dec-
ember 4, discussed plans for their
annual Christmas party on Wed-
nesday, December 18, when mem-
bers will exchange gifts, and will
also bring gifts to the meeting to
be donated to the Children's Aid
Society at Goderich. Noble Grand
Mrs. William Caldwell, presided for
the meeting.
Changes Owners
The Queensway Nursing Home,
Hensall, owned by Earl Burtt, has
been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Orville
A. E. Jones, Lucknow, who took
possession this week on December
1. Mr. Burtt who came to Hen-
sell from St. Marys a year ago
was unable to continue on with the
nursing home owing to ill health,
Mr. Miller was a flour miller at
Lucknow, and Mrs. Jones who was
on the staff of a private hospital
at Lucknow, for four years is a
graduate of Clinton Hospital. They
have a family of one son Kenneth,
and one daughter Louise.
Legion Auxiliary
The following were elected to of-
fice at the Christmas meeting of
the Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, held
December 3: president, Mrs. Will-
iam Brown; vice-presidents, Mrs.
Gordon Munn, Mrs. Howard
Smale; secretary, Mrs. Lawrence
Baynham; treasurer, Mrs. Byran
Kyle; sergeant-at-arms, Mrs. Har-
ry Horton; pianist, Mrs. Edgar
Munn, assistant, Mrs. Baynham;
executive, Mrs. S. Rennie, Mrs.
Mary Taylot, Mrs. H. Bonthron,
Mrs. Aida Simmons, Mrs. J. Hen-
derson.
Mrs. A. Clark was in charge of
'the election. Mrs. Luella Hall,
Blyth, Zone Commander, will be
invited to install the officers at
the January meeting.
Discussion centred around the
Christmas party for the Red Cross,
Eric Reid Old Soldiers Home at
London, and Monday, December
16, was chosen as the date, when
some 30 men at the home will be
entertained and presented with
Christmas parcels, and served
lunch. In charge of lunch will be
Mrs. Gordon Munn and Mrs. H.
Smale. Mrs. Ron Mock and Mrs.
Ines. McElwan were chosen a com-
mittee to look after a Christmas
gift for a war veteran ft West-
minster hospital.
It was decided'to send Christmas
baskets to shut-ins. President
Mrs. E. R. Davis chaired the meet-
ing.
Bingo winners were Mrs. Aiken-
head (2); Mrs. A. Joynt, Mrs. J.
Henderson, Mrs. A. Clark, Mrs.
Aida Simmons, Mrs. E'dria. Cor-
bett, Mrs. H. Smale. Mrs. Davis
and Mrs. Rannie were responsible
for the lovely Christmas decora-
tions, and Mrs. Rannie and Mrs.
Bonthron convened the lunch.

County; Mrs. William Arnold, Rip-
ley and Bob Secord, Hanover, sup-
plied information on the different
educational and social activities
available.
The Community Programs Bran-
ch will supply extensive assistance
in the organization and financieg
of Folks Schools, Night Scbeols,
Community Workshops, Leadership
training or. Recreational Leader-
ship courses.

Community Workshop on, the His-
tory and 'development of Farm Or-
ganizations.
It seems to me that farm organ-
izations are facing a testing period
and knowledge of the past enielit

Last Friday evening was nom-
ination night at 'Teen Town. Ron
McKay, present 'mayor, presided
over the brief meeting, held dur-
ing the regular 'Teen Town dance.
The council elected annually is
comprised of mayor, reeve, sec-
retary, treasurer, and six council-
lors. Elections are scheduled for
the next 'Teen Town dance,
Preparation for commencement
are now in full swing. at 'CDCI.
The start of rehearsals, followed
right "on the 'heels" of last week's
examinations and will continue as
the commencement nights ap-
proach, December 18 and 19.
The dramatics section this year
will: include a comedy entitled
"Swept Clean Off Her Feet," dir-
ected by Miss M. McKenzie and
scenes from the Shakespearean
play "Hamlet," directed by Mrs.
John Robinson.
The musical section of com-
mencement will include selections
by the school choir under the dir-
ection of J. R. Middleton, and a
presentation by Phynes' Filhar-
monies, directed by' Miss C. Haig.
