George Carter were asked to bring
in a slate of officers for the 'next
meeting.

Consitt Dowson
A lovely double ring ceremony
was condlicted in the 'Varna Unit-
ed: 'Church last Saturday after
noon, by the Rev, T. J. Pitt, Varna,
when amid baskets of -white inttissiS,
Marjerie Catherine Dawson, Varna,
became the bride of William Rus-
sell Consitt, Zurich,
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Cecil Dewson, Varna,
and -the groom is the Son of Mra,
Dileen.Consitt, Zurich and the late
RUssell Congitt.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore floor-length Freneh
chantilly Jeep and nylon . tulle over
Slipper satin, with lace bodice and
nylon shirred yoke, sleev-
es, and an aisle-wide bouffant
skirt of double tulle, fashioned
with lace scalloped lnsert in two
tiers. •
She carried a bouquet of red
roses, and wore earrings and neck-
lace of pearls,. Her -tiara of irri-
descent sequins and seed pearls
held a veil of imparted Franeh
Mrs. Kenneth (Coreen) Cald-
well, Clinton, sister of the bride,
was matron of honour and brides-
maids were Miss Patsy Thompson,
Clinton and Mrs. Bev. Clarke,
London. Miss Nancy Consitt, sister
of the groom, was flower-girl. The
bride's attendants- wore matching
dresses of red velvet, with three-
quarter length sleeves and low
neckline, with full pleated skirt
and matching headpieces, gloves
and shoes. Each carried botkitiets
of white 'mums.. The matron of
honour and the bridesmaids receiv-
ed a sterling silver pin, and the
flowergirl received a necklace, as
gifts of the bride.
Ringbearer was Gary Dowscm,
cousin of the bride, Varna, who
carried a white pillow bearing the
rings. Groomsman was Tom Con-
sitt, brother of the groom, Zurich,
and ushers were Kenneth Caldwell,
Clinton and William Dowson, Var-
na.
IVIISs Marjorie, Webster accomp-
anied the soloist on the organ.
Miss Clara Clark sang "The Wed-

tended the Western County Guern-
sey b,anquet in Ailsa Craig on
Thursday. WKS -Christmas Meeting
The Women's Missionary Society
held their Christmas meeting on
Tuesday afternoon in the 'Sunday
School rooms with a good attend-
ance, Mrs. Ross McGregor presid-
ed and opened the meeting with a
Christmas prayer, A hymn was
sung and. Mrs. J. T. White read
the Scripture lesson taken from
Luke.
Friendly Few Forum
The Friendly Few Farm Forum
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
William Jewitt with a large at-
tendance. The discussion was
"Commodities and what would
happen if controls were lifted?"
Progressive euchre was played and
prizes went to Mrs. Frank -Riley
and John Jewitt, low; Mrs. William
Dale and Kenneth Preszcator. Mr.
and Mrs. William. Dale invited
them to their home for next Mon-
day night,

Mrs. W. Johnson
Funeral service was conducted
on Monday afternoon in the Ball
and Mutch funeral home, High
Street, Clinton, for Etelka Agnes
Leitch, widow of the late William
L. Johnson, Rev. C. S. Inder of-
ficiated and interment was in the
Clinton Cemetery,
Pall-bearers were John Anstett,
James Jamieson, Robert Hunter,
Douglas Bartliff, Fred• Radley and
Wilfred Parker. Flower-bearers
were Carl Cox, Edward odkin,
William Livingston and Arthur
Colson,
Born in Hullett Township, on
Christmas Day, December 25, 1895,
she was the daughter of Alexander
Leitch and Jane Lawson. Follow-
ing her marriage to the late Wil-
liam L. Johnson, she had lived in
Clinton, Mr, Johnson predeceased
her six wdeks ago.
She was a member of St. Paul's
Anglican Church.
After an illness of only a few
days, she passed away in Clinton

served last Sunday' with a good
attendance. The program was
taken by the young people.
Surprise party was held at the
home of Mr, and Mrs. William H,
Londesboro, by their im-
mediate family on December 10, on,
the occasion of their 55th wedding
anniversary. Congratulations were
received from, Queen. Elizabeth II,
Prime Minister John Diefenbaker,
and many other friends.
'l'he Orangemen are holding a
social evening on December 20, in
the Orange Hall. An enjoyable
evening was spent last Friday

sories, and wore a corsage of pink
roses. Her gift from the' groom
was -a set of beige luggage,
On their return the young couple
will live on the Parr Line, Stanley
Township.

visited a few days with her daugh-
ter, Mrs, A, PatersOn.
Mr, and Mrs. Murray Squires,
spent the weekend with Mrs,
Squires' parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Allan, Sr,
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Wilson vis-
ited in Sarnia with Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Knox,
Mrs. Gordon Elliott and Mrs.
David Triebrier, were in Port Hur-
on last week.
The many Brucefield friends of
Robert Allan, wish to congratu-
late him on -being chosen as "Bean
King" at the Royal Winter Fair,
and also Field Bean Champion at
the International Livestock Exhib-
ition at Chicago,
We wish also to mention that
one of our younger members of
the 4-I-1 Club, Bob Fotheringham,
won the trophy in the grain club
scoring the highest marks as a
first year, member. This trophy
was presented at the Achievement
Night held in Wingham last Fri-
day night.
Mrs. W. V. Dinnin, who has
spent the past two weeks with her
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Dinnin,,Petrolia, is ex-
pected to return home this com-
ing weekend.
