uniting all women of the church
for Christianity.
Nominating Committee w ill
bring in 1958 slate of officers at
the December meeting.
Christmas boxes for shut-ins are
'to be packed by Mrs. W. Straug-
han, Mrs. F. Plaetzer and Mrs. W.
T, Robison.
Invitation for Open Family
Night November 8 to Westfield
was accepted.
Mrs. A. Plunkett opened her
part of the program with a prayer
followed by Scripture reading by
Misg M. R. Jackson and prayer by
Mrs. Bert Craig.
Mrs. Lloyd Walden, Westfield,
brought a report from Alma Col-
lege training school for leaders,
which proved most interesting.
She said there were' 150 women
and 660 girls registered there this
year,
Mrs. A. Plunkett thanked, the
speaker. Mrs. F. Plaetzer favor-
ed with a solo.
Literature report given by Mrs.
C. Straughan who has been a
member of the WMS for 60 years.
Christian Stewardship report was
given by Mrs. F. Toll.
Offering was received by Mrs.
W. M. Straughan. Mrs. Bert Craig •
thanked all who had helped, to
make the meting a success. The
meeting closed with a hymn. Bene-
diction by the leader.
A delicious lunch was served 'by
Mrs. Syd McClinchey and her
group assisted by the hostess Mrs.
O. Anderson.

Henry, Windsor, She was in her
100th, yeaA
Daughter of the late Mr: and
Mrs, DaVid Cook, the former SUS-.
an Cook was horn on the Tipper-
ary Line, Huron Township, on
July 16, 1858 and married. Abel
M. Reed- at Holmeaville, on An-
u4ry 10, 1878, Her husband pre-.
deceased her about 25 years ago.
Surviving are four sons, David
Alonza, Toronto, and Robert, Hen-
ry and Paul, all of •Owen Sound.
Three daughters also. survive,
Winnifred, Mrs, H, Mervyn, Owen.
Sound; Amelia, Mrs, Mathew
Henry, Windsor, and Olive, Mrs,
Hubert Ragen. Flint, Mich
The late Mrs. Reed was prede.,
Ceased by a son, William Harbourn
and two 'brothers, Dr, J. W. Cook,
Portland, Oregon, and David Cook,
Toronto.
A' niece, Mrs. W. P. Wheatley.
(daughter of the late David Cook),
lives at 163 The Kingsway, Tor-
onto.
Mrs. Reed moved to Owen Sound
59 years ago, moving in 1945 to
Windsor to live with her daughter,
She. had been affiliated with West-
side United. Church, Owen Sound.

lay to stop up and close portions

spent the past two Months with
her sister, .John. Peacoct who ,
came on Saturday, to visit his

Friday for Port Arthur,
George- Lindsay,. Paris, -visited
his mother, Mrs, G. Lindsay over

Mr, and. Mrs. Lindsay Smith,
Mrs. George Lindsay and Brown
Lindsay visited friends in Wood-
ham on Sunday, ,
Lloyd Scotchmer and John Wild
were two of the ramrods, who bag-
ged dear in, Stanley Township last
week.
Harry Baker, London, was at

day to Saturday, while hunting in

Mr. and 'Mrs. F. P. Arkell were
in Goclerich on Sunday for the
birthday party of their three-year-
old grandson, I\Ticky Sager. Mrs.
D. 'Sager entertained: eight boys
-on this occasion.
Mr.., and Mrs. Carson Fawcett
and :baby Nancy, London, came on
Saturday to spend a few days with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.. H. D.

Miss Elizabeth We-Sten. who was
a patient in Victoria. Hospital, Lon-
don, for seven weeks, returned to
the village on Saturday. She is
staying with her sister, Mrs. R.
Blair, Sr. -
Mr. and Mrs. William Parker,
London, spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fras-
er,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parker and
baby Pamela, London, were wth
his parents, Mr, and Mrs. William
E. Parker.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cooper, Mr,
and Mrs. Donald Cooper, 'Clinton,
were the guests of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Fraser, on Sunday, •
Mr. and Mrs. 'Charles Parker
and Bonnie, Scarboro, visited his
.parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Par-
ker, over the weekend.
Percy Renner returned home on
Friday after having accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Rathwell and'
Michael John, Dresden, were.
weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs,
G. R. Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robertson
and family, Copper Cliff, are vis-
iting their respective parents, Mr,
and Mrs. J. J. Robertson and Mr.
and Mrs. William Straughan.
Mrs. George Hamilton is visiting
Mr. and Mrs. Garth Hamilton,
Goderich.
Mrs. Wes. Bradnoek, district
president of Women's Institutes,
was guest speaker at, the Novem-
ber meeting of St. Helen's Insti-
tute on Thursday.
John. Daer had a sale of farm
stock and implements at his farm
on Friday, G. Nesbit was auction-
eer, Mr. Daer has sold his 'farm
to George Cowan, Cooksville, and
has purchased Mrs. Annie Walper's
property in Auburn. He ,will move
in the near future,
Mrs. C. M. Straughan is visiting
friends in London.
St. Mark's Guild
The November meeting of St.
Mark's Ladies' Guild was held at
the home of Mrs-Thomas Haggitt,
with a good attendance of mem-
bers and visitors, Mrs. Haggitt
had charge of the meeting. Scrip-
ture was read by Mrs. C. Brown,
Mrs. Gordon Taylor sang a solo,
accompanied by Mrs. R. J. Phillips
on the harp. A reading was giv-
en by Mrs. Ed. Davies on "Aut-
umn Thoughts". Mrs. Lapp and
Mrs. Schneider favored the meet-
ing with a duet. •
Mrs. Verwey; a new Canadian,
gave a most interesting talk on
Holland, comprising work and food
prices in both Countries: Holland
and Canada.' The Birthday Hymns
were chosen by Mrs, Schneider,
Mrs. G. Taylor, Mrs. Beadle on
his 91st birthday and , Mary Ann
Blake accompanied on the harp by
Mrs. R. J. Phillips.
The program closed with a hy-
mn and prayer in keeping with ar-
mistice.
Mrs. John Da,er, president, took
charge of the business meeting.
The committee for the congre-
gational gave out slips. The sup-
per is to, be held in the Orange
Hall, December roll ,call will be
answered by the members bringing
treats and money for the Indian
School,
his father, the Reverend' Peter
Renner, 'Teeswater PA a hunting
trip to Agawa. Bay. They clid not
bag any deer but enjoyed a visit
with, the latter's parents.
Mr, and Mrs. Percy Renner and
baby son, who have been staying
with her parents, Mr. and, Mrs,.
Charles Scotehmer, returned to
their apartment in the village on
Tuesday.
Mrs. Peter Renner, Teeswater,
came on Monday to spend a few
days with her daughter, Mrs,
Glenn Brandon and family.

The Women's Missionary Soc-
iety of Knox Presbyterian Church
met at the 'home of Mrs, Bruce
Menerey,. on Wednesday of last
week, with nine members, present.
Mrs, W.' R. Talbot presided and
conducted the devotional period.
Mrs, A, A. Armstrong gave the
Scripture reading.- Mrs. R. Heard
gave the secretary's report, Mrs.
pwce Menerey in her financial
statement reported the thank-of-
fering and was' optimistic that
their full allocation. would be raised.
Plaits were made for a Christmas
dinner, for the congregation, the.
first Friday in December. It is
being arranged especially for the
children,
Mrs. D. Macdonald... cloned the
