Nomination of Candidates for the position of Mayor,
Reeve, Deputy Reeve, Councillors, P.U.C.1 Com-
missioners and Public School Board for the

Mission Band
The Wilhelmine Mission Band,
Holmesville United Church, met
in the school for their November
meeting. The program was in
charge of Bill Hoggarth. Donald
Yeo read the Scripture lesson and
Linda MoClinchey gave the pray-
er.
Business was conducted by the
president, Paul Cudmore. Jim Mc-
Cullough gave' the treasurer's re-
poit, Paul Cudmore, Bill Hog-
garth and Bonita Williams were
appointed to bring in the- new
slate of officers,
Eric Gahweiler read an article
on peace and Jim McCullough read
a temperance story. The Stndy
Books were read by Miss Ann
Shaddock and Mrs, Frank McCul-
lough, Milton MoClinchey read
an Autumn poem.
WATS Meeting
The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of .Hohnesville United Church
met in the Sunday School room
for their regular meeting. The
program was in charge of Mrs.
Lloyd Bond's group, with Mrs.
Harry Cudmore as leader, Mrs,

Rance-Dervis
The East Chapel of Timothy
Eaton Memorial United Church,
Toronto, was the scene for a wed-
ding on Saturday, November 2,
when May . Dervis, became the
bride of C, C. Rance, Toronto,
(formerly of Clinton), son of the
late C. Cl, Rance and Mrs, jermet
Fair Rance, also of Clinton.
The bride wore, champagne .de.,
lustred satin designed by Marjor-
ie Watts. She was given in mar-
rine by her brother-in-law, B.
Mancentelli. •
Matron of honour was a sister
of the bride, Mrs Zabel Nieman-
teilL
Ushers were Dr. P, Rance and
Edward' Kendall,
Mrs, May- Rance 'Mackinnon,
Clinton, sister of the groom., at-
tended the wedding and •the re-
ception. which followed in the
church :parlours of Eaton Memor-
ial United Church.
The couple left for a wedding
trip to Washington and Atlantic
City, •

Mrs. William Norman told about
the temperance booth at the
Ploughing Match held this fall.
Mrs. W. R. Labb gave a short talk
on work at Norway House, Mrs.
W. Norman and Mrs. E, Grigg
sang a duet, with Mrs. W. Yeo at
the piano.
The president, Mrs. L. Jervis
conducted the business. Mrs. Bar-
rie Walter gave a talk on "Giving
Thanks," and Mrs. H. Cudmore
„read an article, "New Thank We
All Our God." The meeting clos-
ed with prayer by Mrs. Cudmore.
WA Meets
The Woman's Association meet-
ing followed with the vice-presi-
dent, Mrs. Jack Yeo in the chair,
The Scripture lesson and com-
ments, were given by Mrs, J. Yea.
A donation to the Deaconess Or-
der was approved.
The Christmas stocking belong-
ing to each member, is to be hand-
ed in at the December meeting;
as well as a gift for the Children's
Aid Society. Plans were made far
the catering to a banquet in late
November.
Mrs. Ninian Heard, Mrs, John
Grigg and Mrs,' Kenneth Harris
were appointed a committee to
form the slate of officers for 1958.
The meeting closed with a pot
luck supper,

Tax Collections
Better Than Ewer
Although Hensall's mill rate is
the highest in its history, tax col-
lections this year are better than
ever before, Clerk J. A. Paterson
stated this week in his report to
council,
Only $2,500 of the total roll of
$53,000, or about four and one halt
percent is outstanding, Council
has requested retaining fees for
the services of the fire brigade
from four neighbouring townships.
The amounts are: Tuckoremith
$125; Ray $125; Hibbert $75 and
Usborne $75.
Council is giving consideration
to a request from the Legion for
a rebate on the taxes paid on the
branch's building, A delegation
from the branch presented the re-
quest to Council.
Construction work on Richmlond,
Elizabeth and Brock streets in'
preparation for paving, will start
next week by the county road dc-
pertinent.
Robert Reaburn, principal of the
public school, appearing for the
public school board, received per-
mission to erect a light on the
school grounds.

Ladies Meet At
Stewart Baird's s.
Members of the Stanley Ladies'
Community Club held their mon-
thly meeting at the home of Mrs,
Stewart Baird. Mrs, Mel Graham,
vice-president occupied the chair,
Eleven members answered the Roll
call which was "what you would
do if you were 21 again," There
were five visitors present, also 12
children,
Collection amounted to $6.16,
Two Thank You cards were read,
Ten dollars will be sent to the
Children's Aid Society. Plans were
made to hold a party in the school
towards the end of the month. A
committee was. appointed to look
after it.
The meeting closed with the
1Vlizpah benediction and after a
social half hour a lovely lunch was

group,
The December meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs, Vie Tay-
lor and roll call is to be answered
with "How Christmas is celebra-
ted in other countries." There
will also be -an exchange of Christ-
mas gifts,

George Beadle
Lives at Auburn
George Beadle observed his 91st
birthday quietly at his home in
Auburn on November 5, A son
of the late Mr, and Mrs, George
Beadle, he was born in the Malt.,
land Block in Hullett township.
Sixty nine years ago he. married
Elizabeth. Robinson of West We-
wanosh township, who died sev,
en years later, Four -years later
he married Marion Yungblut, Au-
burn.
Mr. Beadle threshed for a num-
ber of years and farmed in West
Wawanosh and Mullett, retiring to
Auburn 21 years ago. He has six daughters, Mrs. liar.
