Service was conducted on Mon-
day afternoon, November 4, from
the Beattie funeriI home, Ratten-
bury Street,. East, to the Clinton
Cemetery, by the Rev. 3, A. McKim
for Reginald Walker Shipley, who
passed away suddenly at his home
on Saturday afternon during a
severe attacis of coronary thwart-
hosts, It was a largely attended
funeral.
Pall bearers were Frank Allin,
Benxi-tiller; Robert Elliott, Percy
Livermore, Wilfred Jervis, Hector
Kingswell and Edward Elliott, all
of Clinton. Flower-bearers, were
Michael Reynolds, Joseph Wild, El-
mer Hugill, Jack Elliott, Goldwin
Srnith, Charles Nelson, Carl Can-
telon'and Oscar Priestap,
Born near Clinton on March 22,
1906, a son of the late Joseph
Shipley and Mrs. Esther Shipley,
Clinton, he had lived here all of
his life. In. September, 1931, he
married Florence Huller arid they
have one daughter, Lynne Marie,
12 years old,
ZIe was a newspaper distributor,
carrying the Toronto Evening
Telegram from Kitchener through
to points in Bruce and Huron
Counties. This he had done for
almost 21 years, Prior to that he
was a taxi driver, operating one
of the first such services to be
had in town.
He was a member of Wesley-
Willis United Church and treas-
urer of the Sunday School there.
Once a member of the Clinton
Lodge IOOF No, 83, he had to give
this up owing. to an ailing heart,
iSurvivirig besides his wife and
daughter are three sisters, Mrs.
Clifford (Norma) Ashton and Mrs,
Barrett (Marion) Taylor, both of
Clinton and Mrs. Sam (Gladys)
Flewitt, Goclerich Township. One
brother Cecil was killed 26 years
ago while- at work with a bean
machine.
Miss M. McConnell
Miss Mabel McConnell passed
away in Clinton Public Hospital on
Wednesday, October 23, in her
89th year.
She was born near Kingston, a
daughter of the late David and
Mary Ann McConnell and moved
to Blyth when quite young. She
lived for a time in Clinton but re-
turned to Blyth where for many
years she made her home with her
sister, the late Mrs, Blan. Herring-
ton 'until the time of her death.
During the past two years she
lived with Mrs. Sam Appleby.
She regularly attend St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church, Blyth,
and was a member of the Women's
Missionary Society.
She is survived by one brother,
Raymond McConnell, of Windsor,
and, a niece, Mrs. Louise Somers,
of Timmins, also a number of other
neices and nephews.
Funeral service was held from
the Tasker memorial chapel, Blyth,
on Saturday afternoon, October 26,
by the Rev. D. J. Lane, with Mrs.
Harvey Brown at the chapel piano.
Pallbearers were John Fairser-
vice, Cecil Wheeler, William Mer-
ritt, Walter Shortreed, George
Fear and Harvey Brown,
Interment was in Clinton cem-
etery. 0

VARIOUS FUNCTNIOS
James R. Scott, Seforth, Liber-
al candidate in the last provincial
election has been making himself
well known throughout the county
through his appearances as guest
speaker on varous occasions. He
appeared recently in this capacity
at the Municipal Officers Assoc-
iation Meeting held in Belgrave;
last Saturday evening at the
Stratford Teachers' College Alum-
ni banquet held in that city and
is scheduled to speak here on
Thursday night, November 21, at
the annual meeting of the Clinton
Comartuunity Credit Union Ltd.

Mrs. K White
Mrs. Irene Winifred White, 58,
widow of Kearwood White, died at
Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital, Goderich, Sunday, after
a short illness,
She was the former Irene .Cole,
-Clinton,. and was born in Clinton,
She has been a resident of Goder-
ich.for the past 25 years, Before
her marriage she was a schdbl
teacher at Torrance, She was a
member of St, George's Anglican;
Church,
Her husband died 16 years ado,
Surviving are three sons, Howard,
Goderich; Hilliard, London; Kear-
wood, Alberni, B.C.; four daugh-
ters, Mrs, Gordon (Freda) Gilbert,
Port Alberni, 33,0; Mrs, Robert
(Bernice) Moffatt; Mrs, Vincent
(Leota) McCann and Miss Joan
White, all of London; one brother,
Charles Cole,•Lonclon; two sisters,
Mr.6.'Robert (Olive) Fisher, Strat-
ford; Mrs. Cecil (Betsie) Ashton,
Shakespeare; and 11 grandchild-
ren.
Service was from, the Lodge
funeral hortie on Tuesday after-
noon, by the Rev, Dr, K. E. Tay-;Or, St. George's Anglican Church,
Interment in Maitland Cemetery,
Miss M. J. S. Austin
Miss Mary Jane Seely Austin,
formerly of Varna, died at Wood-
stock, on Friday, November 1, in her 55th year.
She was born in Clinton and re-
ceived her early education at Var-
na schools. She was a member of
Varna United Church.
Miss Austin is survived by a
sister, Mrs. Floyd (Alice) Schell,
Detroit; two brothers, William,
Flint, Mich,; and Alvin R., Varna.
Funeral service was held from
the Box Funeral Chapel, Seaforth,
Monday afternoon, with Rev. T.
J. Pitt officiating, Burial was in
Baird's Cemetery, Brucefield,

Funeral services for Mrs. Will.
lam Alexander, were held from
the Bonthron funeral chapel, on
Saturday, November, by the Rev.
Alex RapsOn, Main Street United
Church, Exeter, of which she was
a mernber. Burial was in Baird's
Cemetery.
The former Agnes Jane Thomp-
son, she was horn in Hay Town-
ship where she resided Most of her
life. She passed away in South
Huron Hospital, Exeter, I. a s t
Thursday, following a lengthy ill-
ness. She was in her 69th year.
Surviving are her husband, two.
sons, John, Hensall, and Norman,
Londeohero; tour daughters, Isobel,
Toronto; Doris, Mrs. Cecil Dilling,
London; Jean, Mrs, Robert Simp-
son, Kirkton; Ruth, Exeter and
one sister, Mrs. lv, D. Cook, Hen-
call.
