Of First Posting 'of Voters' Lists for 1956
Municipality of the Town of Clinton,
County of Huron
NOTICE is hereby given that I have complied with Section
8 of the VOTERS' JAWS ACV, and I have posted up in my
office at Clinton on the 16th day cif October, 1957, the list of
all-persons entitled to vote in said Municipality. at Municipal
Elections, and that such list remains there for inspection.
And I hereby call upon all voters to take immediate pro-
ceedings to have any errors or omissions corrected according to
law, the last day of appeal being the 30th day of October, 1957.
Dated at Clinton this 16th day of October, 1957.

Lies Injured Outside New School
While Ilensall Citizens At Opening
This is the huge elm at the corner of Huron
and Shipley Streets on Highway 8, which the
Rev. D. J. Lane and Ed Mittell discovered to
measure 1,1 feet, eight inches. Considered to be
one of the original forest trees of the Huron,
Tract, it is at the corner of the property of Miss
..•,. ....
If not the largest tree in the area, this
next-to-giant elm has been growing bigger every
year until it has reached a girth — measured
breast high — of 18 feet, three inches. The Rev.
Charles Inder, a member of the executive of the
Clinton Citizens' Horticultural Society, here in-
vestigates the old tree, Situated on the lawn

Florence Cuningharne. Her father once, protected
it from the axes of town workmen,, employed to
cut it down. Miss Cuninghame herself has kept
a watchful eye on the old tree, and now has
enlisted the support'of the Horticultural Society
to help her preserve it as long as possible.

the elm presents a rather haggard appearance,
possibly through its many years. However, on one
side is .evidence that some small boys perhaps at
one time had a tree house among its lofty
branches, for a piece of linoleum, and a couple
of small boards still remain clinging to its side.
