The 75th Anniversary of Hol-
mesville United Church Was held
on _Sunday, October 13th with the
minister of the church, Rev. J.
A. McKim, B.A,, the speaker, The
church Was beautifully decorated
in the traditional • Thanksgiving
style.
Special music by the choir, with
Mrs. W. Yeo at the organ, and
several quartet numbers by the
Populaires of Woodstock, were
very much appreciated. Members
of the Populaires are, P. Hughes,
S. Stewart, L. Tebbutt and E.
Baker.

last week of the death of her aunt,

Winnipeg; Harold, Toniskaroirig,
Ont.; ,Clara, Mrs. Campbell, New
Westminster, E,C;; Lillian, Mrs.
James Qamphell,' and Edith, Mrs,
E., R. Tenant, both of Winnipeg;
and Ethel, Mrs. Grant Robertson,
Whitewater, Man. As well there
are a number of grandchildren, one

Also surviving of the family of 1.1
are two brothers, W, Percy Hol-
mes, St: Catharines, and Howard
Holmes, Vancouver" t, B.C. The late
Mrs. H. B, Chant was a sister,. The
only relatives in this area include
Mrs. Sutter, and Wilfred Biggin,
RIR 2, Clinton; whose mother, the
late Mrs.' Alice Govier, was Mr.
Emerson's only sister.

the treasurer's report. Mrs. W.
R. Lobb, Mrs. Eldon Yeo and
Mrs. John Grigg were -appointed
a committee to decorate the chu-
rch for Anniversary Sunday.
Hostesses for the day were Mrs.
L. Jervis, Mr's. M. Jones, and
Mrs. E, Potter,
Petdr Brown, Riverside, visited
with his uncle, David Ewan over
the holiday.
Miss Vina Knox, Toronto, spent
the Thanksgiving holiday with her
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Durnin vis-
ited with cousins at Pine River for
Thanksgiving.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Griffiths,
Brampton, were :visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. William Griffiths.
Mr. and Mrs. Willows Mountain
and Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Josling
spent the weekend in Harrow,
Mrs. Gordon Curts, Arkona, vis-
ited with her sister, Mrs. Ed.'

Thanksgiving with her daughter's
family, Mr. and Mrs. C. Cooper,

Mrs. Eleanor Throop and Mrs,
Harve Wells left Saturday morning
on a trip to California and other
points West.
Miss Dorothy Little and her
friend, Miss Mildred Hollinger
were holiday guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Townsend.
Londes(boro Church will hold
anniversary services on Sunday,
October 20 at 11 a,m. and 7.30
p.m. (Standard Time), with Rev.
George Wylie, B.A., B,D., Wallace-
burg, as guest speaker. All are
invited to attend these services.
Burns' Church held their anni-
versary last Sunday with Dr. J. A.
Semple, Egmondville, delivering a
very able sermon, The church was
filled to capacity. The choir sang
two fine anthems and Harry Lear's
solo "I Shall. Not Pass Again This
Way" was enjoyed by all. The
weather was ideal for Thanksgiv-
ing and the beauty of the foliage
fully appreciated.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Sunday was ob-
served in the Varna United Chu-
rch pastoral charge at Varna
and the Sacrament of Baptisrn
was administered to John Floyd,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce John-
son and Charlene Mary, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reid.
At the Goshen Church a rally
service was held. Certificates and
seals were presented . to Sunday
School 'pupils for attendance and
proficiency. Thanksgiving hymns
were sung at both churches and
at Varna the choir sang the an-
them, "The House of the Lord"

hosed nylon, fashioned with Peter
Pan collar, fitted bodice and full
skirt, Her fingertip veil of em-
broidered net was caught to a
headdress of white flowers and
she carried a bouquet of white
carnations centred with an orchid.
Maid of honour was Miss Jean
Sjaarda, Toronto, sister of the
bride, in rose taffeta gown With
net yoke, and .carried a nosegay
of pink and white carnations and
roses.
Peter Kielstra, St, Thomas, was
his brother's groomsman.
Following a :reception in the
Albion Hotel, Bayfield, the young
couple left on a wedding trip to
Northern Ontario, the bride wear-
ing a pink wool suit with match-
ing accessories. They will live
in St. Thomas.
