Attention is drawn to an an-

hockey meeting in the council
chambers an' Friday evening at
eight o'clock,
The Colt intermediate club had
a reasonably successful -year in
WOAA "home -(brew" competition

was Russell Holmes, and secretary
Was R. D, Fremlin,
All persons. interested in keeping
an intermediate team together in
Clinton are invited to attend and
express their views. Already there
has been rumors of no team at
all; another of Zurich players be-
ing interested in• playing in Clin-
ton; and also that a few men
from Goderich are interested in
playing here in Clinton. Goderich
are definitely out of intermediate
hockey this season.

1957 under the Act, with Reeve
Burton Stanley and Councillor Ed-
ward Dade from the Council and
representatives from the Legion,
Lions, Fish and Game Club and
the Kinsmen Club."
However, the Clinton Lions Are-
na is owned and operated by .the
Loons Club, with, some financial
support from the Municipal Coun-
cil two and three years ago. -
If a Municipal; Recreation Com-
mittee Was established under the
Act, and a full-time or part-time
director hired, then a grant equal-
ling one-third of the director's sal-
ary, 'up to a maximum • annual
grant of $1,800 could• be applied
for. • Also a maximum grantt of
$600 on cost of operation and
maintaining facilities could be ap-
paied for anneally,

Redmen Defeat Goderich 21-7;
ow Have Two Wins in HSS
With their second victory behind
them the .CDCI Redmen have
made a good beginning. for the
football season. Playing on the
CDC' campus on Tuesday after-
noon, under matchless weather
conditions, the game had an ex-
cellent audience.
•
Ending the first half with Gode-
rich leading 7-6, the Redmen held
the visitors to that count and
went an to triple that score for
themselves. At the end of the
game, the score was 21-7 for Clin-
ton,
,In the first quarter a touchdown
by Frank McDonnell was not con-
verted, but one by Harman. of
Goderich, was successfully convert-
ed bi37e Robinson. in the second
quarter, no. scoring.
In the third. quarter, a Clinton
touchdown was scored by Wayne
Parris, and the convert was again
missed'. A safety touch was scor-
ed by McDonnell.
Lobsters And Indoor Bicycling
Highlight .Recent Court . Session
A tale of 16 'frozen unshelled
lobsters, one bottle of rye, and,
two. of ruin, plus a late evening
ride around the council chamber
pf the town hall on a bicycle
wasunfal•ded in magistrate's court
here on Tuesday. Charged was
James H. "Herb" Stott, Goder-
ich, with impaired driving, and
also for failing to remain at the
scene of an' accident.
The accident was slight. Ap-
parerntly Stott was driving home
from. London, and when crossing
the railway 'tracks the car was
out of control for a few seconds,
and struck the back of a car driv-
en by Ross Love. Scott's car
proceeded across the road, nar-
rowly missinga tree, and break-
ing a guy wire, and ending up in
the ditch.
After being requested by two
residents of that area to remain
until police had arrived, Stott
drove oft, and parked behind the
Department' of Highways garage
on King Street where Chief
R. Thompson found him some
ten minutes later. .
.,Mr. Stott, who had no prev-
ious record, claimed in court that
he rennernbered nothing after
crossing the tracks, until the
Chief asked him to come to the
pollee station. . It was there,
while waiting" for bail to be ar-
ranged in Goderich, that Mr. Stott
got tired of waiting and so
mounted a 'bicycle and did a trip
around the council -chamber floor.
He tried to set alp a Card game
with .Constable Shaddiek, • but
was uesuetessful.
Jarries Donnelly, Goderich, was
defense counsel. With defense wit -
'lessee in, the stalitl, the stony
was unfolded of haw Mr, Stott'
and a friend, Mr, Owles from
Goderich, hadbeen in London on
business on the afternoen of
August 24. They purchased 16
frozen lobster; two bottles of rum
for another pian, Mr. I-taywood,
and a bottle of rye for Mr. Owles.
Proceeding to the Haywood hth- e
las .London they each had two
rounds of rye while- waiting for
goane' of the lobster to cook, and
after supper and coffee, proceed-
ed home, each in his own car.
Near Hensall they stopped on the
side of the road to eat some.more
of the frozen lobster, and here
they switched cars for the re-
mainder of ' the trip. Overdrive
in Ovules car was blamed as the
cause of the accident.
Mr. Stott suffered some .cuts
about the mouth, and his dental
plate was broken in three plaees.
Convicted on the two charges,
he was fined $75 and costs' 'on
the impaired count; $25 and costs
on the failing to remain; a third
charge of careless driving was
dismissed,
:Clean Up Pens
William A. k Jenkins, poultry
raiser, was given an additional
two weeks to clean up his turkey
pens on North, Street. The dirty
pens have been creating a health
problem, and their condition en-
courages rats..
A touchdown by Bert Clifford
in the fourth, was converted by
McDonnell. Both of the last two
touchdowns were on passes by

The new $112,000 Hensall Pub-
lic School will be officially open-
ed on Friday, October 18. • G.
Duffin, of the Department of Edu-
cation, Toronto, will officiate. The
six -room: structure was erected
this spring an the south side of
town. The olid school, on Highway
84, at the east end of the Village,
has been sold to the Council for $$1.
