past few weeks, 1 found that
beef.was returning from 71 to 77
percent of the equivalent in pork
to the producer.
Beef, I have always understood,
is a more popular meat than pork.
Its nutritional value is high. It
requires mulch less proceSsing than
pork, so that the proditcer
get a Meier percentage of the
consinnere meat dollar. Why then,
beef selling at .a discount to
pork? •

530 4-1.1 members in Huron County
at this year's National 4e.1•1 Club
Week, November 16 to 21,
Eight delegates are selected an-
nually .from the 4.-H .Agricultural
Clubs in Southern Ontario; five
Homemaking Club members from
Southern Ontario and one delegate
from Northern Ontario, making a
total of 14 delegates to represent
Ontario. The selection of the pro-
vincial delegation will he made by
a special selection committee at
the Ontario Agricultural College
at Guelph on September 16 and 17.
Each candidate will be interviewed
personally and the final selection
will be based on the outcome of
the personal interrieW, their part-
icipation in 4-H Club Work, their
rerd in 4-ff Inter -Club compet-
itibais and &.51eipation in com-
Dimity activities.

In 1954 he was high man in the
junior section and in 1957 he top-
ped the senior section and was
high' man in the entire compet-
ition. He has taken part in the -
Huron County Seed •Jaidging Corn -
petition for the past three years
placing 5th in 1955, .6th in 1956
and fourth. in 1957. •
In. 1956 he was one of the 'team
representing the County at the
Lambtort-Oxford-IVEddiesex Short, -
horn Breeders •regional field day
and judging competition. The
team placed first and Bert was
the high: individual. The same team
stood! firstin the Michigan State
Shorthorn Breeders Field Day in
1956. Again Bert Pepper was .the
• high individual. At .thesame com-
petition this year he tied for first
place in the open' competition
This year he is a member of
the Bayfield 4-H Beef .Calf 'Club
and the Clinton 4-H Gratin Club.

He has been 'a member of the
Clinton. Junior Farmers since 1952;
was elected} vice -preside -Tit in 1955,
president in • 1956 and press rec
porter in, 1957. He iS this year's
secretary for the Huron County
junior Fanners' A.ssociation and
served as chairman cif the Huron
County Junior Fanners' Choir for
the 1966/57 season.
In 1955 he represented Huron
as a Provincial junior Farmer
camper, and has been a member of
the male quartet which represent-
ed the County in Provincial Corn-
petitiknis for the past three years.
He is a member of the Y. P. U.
of Turner's United •Churich and an
executiVe member of, the Huron
County Presbytery Y. P. U Bert
has completed grade 12 and while
attending Clinton District Colleg-
