Cucumber Sorting
Continues; Will
Be Excellent Crop
With the odd shower *of' rain
and warm weather in the next few
weeks, it is expected that the
cucumber crop in this area will
be an excellent one.
This year the floor space in. the
ONiR, freiight sheds here, used by
the A. J. Heinz Company of Can-
ada as sorting shed for the dist-
rict, has been doubled, and local
folk are busily at work from early
morning until sometimes late at
night, sorting, weighing and pack-
ing
acking the cukes.
Leonard Dawson, Teeswater,
district manager far the Northern
Sorting Neuse of the company,
reports there are several more
acres under contract in this area
this, year than previously, and at-
tributes this • to the fact that farm-
ers find it an excellent paying
crop, with a -strike guaranteed at
the time the acerage contracts
are arranged for, The Heinz Coon
pany has been sorting members
here for the past 20 years,
There are two machines in op-
eration in the Clinton sorting shed,
and local employees include Mrs.
Blab Morgan, Mrs. Annie Jervis,
Robert Johnston, Charles Hough-
ton, Andrew Garneau, William
Jenkins, Arthur Hallam, Wi11
Whtdden and Willis . Bromley.

six to eight weeks, depending upon
the season.
