their mid-surnmer appeal for funds, has .encour-

Swimming Pool Fund committee a good deal,
and the men are eager to proceed with the final
steps- which will see the completion of the
project.
The cement wofk around the outside of the
pool was poured early this week, .and now only
a little extra labour -and materials, will see
completion, to the point Where the pool can be
used. Of course there is no bath-house yet, and
to raise the money for one, it Will be necessary
to keep enthusiasm up for Possibly another 1.2-,

- Never before, do we think, has our town
PA 'forth such a coneerted effort, and with
everyone working together, accomplished, such
a great deal in such a short time, The service
clubs should wear a banner of merit, for their
whole-hearted co-operation throughout the plan-
rang and campaigning for funds for the pool;
and for their volunteer labour in the various
work projects in connection with it.
Truly it is a proof of excellent community
spirit, 'to see the" pool grow as it has done at
the Community Pack.

Future . 4-H Club Member
The, two-year-old in his play-pen , is
fascinated by life around -him. He longs to
pull the tail feathers out of every chicken
on his father's farm. He has no idea at all
how a farmer's son should behave, but he'll
find out, later, when his brothers initiate
him into the local 4-11 club
Uere he'll learn by doing, pledged to use
his head, heart, hands and health in the
best possible way,
A-Ft Clubs were started 'with • one simple
idea in mind: to have rural young people
do a worthwhile piece of work at home,
voluntarily, and do it beer than ever
before, Plant a garden plot, perhaps, or
-raise a calf, make a dress, beautify a room.
The idea was so good that the young
people swept their parents along with them,
and farm life improved amazingly.
4-H Clubs have done many useful things.
They have kept the right boys and girls on
the farm, trained young men and women
for leadership, improved life in rural com-
munities by introducing better agricultural
and home practices, and implanted the
ideal of good citizenship in young minds.
There are about 75,000 4-H members in
Canada. Many will graduate into farm
organizations in which are the progressive
young farmers who—by using modern
machinery and farm techniclues —help to
keep all Canadians well fed,
