After thorough chilling, the paper is torn away, and the dark' brown cups are filled with spoonfuls of ice cream, Contrasting colors, contrasting_ flavors and teXtures it all adds up to a happy end- ing for any shower, Here's to a pleasant variation in the food served at bride's show- ers, And here's to all the brides- to-be , bless 'eml WE CREAM BASARTS (Makes Baskets) That writer of long ago would still have us believe that "Sweet April showers do bring May flowers", But in this modern day, we'd be more likely to say that gay May showers bring a host of June weddings, Of course we're not' talking about the Same kind. of showers. But there isn't a homemaker, or girl 'at business', or even a mere male for that matter, who isn't aware that May Is one of the peak spots for "giv- ing a shower"; Apart from this awareness, some of us are eagerly looking for new ideas for a show- er for a friend, or relative, or business associate, Certainly the brides themselves must get a little weary of the eternal decor- ated tunbrellas and the "little cakes" that someone has fussed over with tenderness. We'll let the entertainment researchers carry out their responsibility to you in this matter of suggesting new ways to present the gifts .. and the attendant decorations, poems and party games. In re- turn, we'll do our part .., and right this morning , with sug- gestions for something a bit dif- ferent in the "what to serve' , department. For May showers yes, and On through the summer and fall— . there couldn't be a better "brid- ish" food to serve than ice cream.- Ice cream is the dairy food that gives us superlative flavor and texture every time .., and. best of all it's as near as your corner store. ; You're saved extra time in the kitchen, when there's so much else to claim your attention the day of the shower. Dainty Ice Cream Baskets .., for the bride-to-be and her friends „ is our first suggestion, They're mode easily into crunchy "holl- ers" 'for your favorite, flavor of ice cream, and they combine just three things; chocolate, coconut and crisp cereal, These intred- lents are blended together and pressed into buttered tart 'of muf- fin tins, Chilled until you're ready for them, they come out easily, following our directions. Place each basket on a festive looking doilie .(paper variety), fill them with generous scoops of ice cream, and make the little hand- les with more of, the basket mix- ture that has net been chilled. Nestle a wee posy aside the bas- ket and each of your guests will be intrigued with the whole idea. More than intrigued, we should say, upon sampling your master- piece, for there's delight in every bite. Our other suggestions are, for Double Ring Meringues for ice cream and for 'another ice cream basket idea', . Chocolate Nut Cups that are entirely different from the ones we'vg already talk,- ed about, The meringues are for- med with a pastry tube on a but- tered baking sheet. They'ee act- ually circles, slightly overlapping for..thee,."double" idea, and when baked and cooked, a set. of "rings" is placed atop plain, flavored or fruited ice cream that's been heaped into your. prettiesi dessert dishes.
