EXTERIOR HOUSE PAINT,
Hire'd labor or your own time-goes further With
Solo-Coat White as it easily and completely,
covers most previously painted surfaces in one
coat instead of the conventional two. That's
because it has double the hiding pigment
the second coat is actually "built in" to Solo-Coat -
-White's one coat beauty.. Just once around the
house and you're through.
Look! Time and Labor Slashed with
SolonaCoat White
Try it and see 2 coat painting
in I brush -stroke
that means the labor of painting can be nearly
halved. Since labor these days takes up a good
85% of the average paint, contract, house owners
employing painters to do the job will net a
saving of several hundred dollars or 40% on
a six room house.
You can save money, time and labour with

WE CREAM BASARTS
(Makes Baskets)
That writer of long ago would
still have us believe that "Sweet
April showers do bring May
flowers", But in this modern
day, we'd be more likely to say
that gay May showers bring a
host of June weddings, Of course
we're not' talking about the Same
kind. of showers. But there isn't
a homemaker, or girl 'at business',
or even a mere male for that
matter, who isn't aware that May
Is one of the peak spots for "giv-
ing a shower"; Apart from this
awareness, some of us are eagerly
looking for new ideas for a show-
er for a friend, or relative, or
business associate, Certainly the
brides themselves must get a
little weary of the eternal decor-
ated tunbrellas and the "little
cakes" that someone has fussed
over with tenderness. We'll let
the entertainment researchers
carry out their responsibility to
you in this matter of suggesting
new ways to present the gifts ..
and the attendant decorations,
poems and party games. In re-
turn, we'll do our part .., and
right this morning , with sug-
gestions for something a bit dif-
ferent in the "what to serve'
,
department.
For May showers yes, and
On through the summer and fall—
. there couldn't be a better "brid-
ish" food to serve than ice cream.-
Ice cream is the dairy food that
gives us superlative flavor and
texture every time .., and. best
of all it's as near as your corner
store. ; You're saved extra time
in the kitchen, when there's so
much else to claim your attention
the day of the shower.
Dainty Ice Cream Baskets ..,
for the bride-to-be and her friends
„ is our first suggestion, They're
mode easily into crunchy "holl-
ers" 'for your favorite, flavor of
ice cream, and they combine just
three things; chocolate, coconut
and crisp cereal, These intred-
lents are blended together and
pressed into buttered tart 'of muf-
fin tins, Chilled until you're
ready for them, they come out
easily, following our directions.
Place each basket on a festive
looking doilie .(paper variety), fill
them with generous scoops of ice
cream, and make the little hand-
les with more of, the basket mix-
ture that has net been chilled.
Nestle a wee posy aside the bas-
ket and each of your guests will
be intrigued with the whole idea.
More than intrigued, we should
say, upon sampling your master-
piece, for there's delight in every
bite.
Our other suggestions are, for
Double Ring Meringues for ice
cream and for 'another ice cream
basket idea', . Chocolate Nut
Cups that are entirely different
from the ones we'vg already talk,-
ed about, The meringues are for-
med with a pastry tube on a but-
tered baking sheet. They'ee act-
ually circles, slightly overlapping
for..thee,."double" idea, and when
baked and cooked, a set. of "rings"
is placed atop plain, flavored or
fruited ice cream that's been
heaped into your. prettiesi dessert
dishes. The Chocolate Nut Cups
combine butter, chocolate pieces
and chopped nuts. Heated to-
gether, then cooled slightly, the
mixture is spread evenly on 'the
-Chief H. R. Thompson is investi-
gating a break-in which occurred
last Thursday morning, May 23,
at the Anson Gilbert service sta-
tion on Victoria Street, He re-
ceived first word of 'the event at
about nine o'clock, when the sta-
tion was opened by fnanager Don-
ald Brightrall.
Entry had been gained by re-
moving a pane of glass from the
small front door, by reaching in
and releasing the lock. The thieves
then entered the Wide, and from
-behind the' counter in an unlocked
cupboard they. took $1.38 in change
and bills, as well as cigarettes and
an electric razor owned by the
manager.
Through the co-operation of
Service Police at RCAF Station
Clinton, Constable Hobbs -of, the
OPP, Goderich, and Chief Thomp
son, three airmen were taken into
custody at the Station that same
er from heat, and cool slightly
until chocolate is of spreading con-
sistency, To make cups, spread
chocolate mixture on inside of
small paper baking,. cups, using
back of teaspoon to spread choco-
late evenly. Chill until firm. Tear
paper away from chocolate cup
and chill until ready to serve. Fill
each cup with ice cream and ser-
ve immediately.
Ever Try?
Making the bride-to-be's special.
It's an angel cake ring, filled
with pink ice cream. Try, one of
the angel food cake mixes on the
market. All you have to do is
add water, beat vigorously, and
the oven takes care of the rest.
The result is a large, tender angel
food cake, that you can ice or serve
plain, as you choose. Make it into
a real production for the next
shower, by. filling the centre with
luscious scoops of ice cream. Serve
on a glass plate, with fresh flow-
ers forming a ring around the
masterpiece.
Sundae Tarts. They make a
hit whatever the occasion. Fill
'homemade or baker's tart shells
with fruit and nut- ice cream. Top
with chocolate sauce and whipped
cream,
