WMS Meeting
The May meeting of the WO-
man's. Missionary Society was held
on the 14th, with 20 present. The
meeting opened, with" quiet music,
and Mrs. H. Dalrymple read a
verse of a hymn, Mrs. W. Walker-
gave the Bible reading from Mat-
thew 25: $1 to 46. A Service of
Intercession for Home MissiOrith,
was in Charge of the Leader,
Mrs. 5, Davison presided for
the business, The roll call was
answered with a verse on Mother,.
and the treasurer reported the
.Easter Thankoffering $93.70. Ar-
rangements were made for the
affiliation service of the
on May 23, The girls will provide,
the program and. the WMS will
serve refreshments,
The community friendship sec-
retary reported four calls made,
and Mrs. Baird gave a splendid
reading on Christian stewardship.
An invitation was accepted to at-
tend the WMS meeting of -Cavan
Church, Winthrop, on June 5 The
supply secretary displayed and
'dedicated gifts for five girls at the
Indian Residential School at Al-
erni, B.C.
The study program was Home
Mission Fields, and Mrs. L, Eyre
told of the work carried on in
Labrador, Mrs. W. Scotts, NeW-
foundland and Mrs. E, Allen the
story of a student missionary.
I OBITUARY 1
Mrs. J. A. Harrison
VUneral service was held on
Wednesday afternoon, May 15,
for Daisy Harrison, beloved wife of
John A. Harrison, Goderich. Ser-
vice was from St. George's•Ang-
lican Church, Goderich, by the
Rev.. Dr. K. K. Taylor, and inter-
ment was in Maitland Cemetery.
Pall-bearers were Frank Mc-
Arthur, George Jenner, Kenneth
Campbell, Lyle Bannister, A. J.
Spiegelberg and George Mumby.
— Born in Cornwall,-England, the
daughter of Lucy Symons and
Charles Sidney Smith, Mrs. Harr-
ison had lived in Goderich for the
Past 44 years. She was a member
of St. George's Anglican Church,
and bf the ,Women's Guild of that
church. She passed away fn Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospi-
tal, Goderich, on Monday, May 13,
following an illness of a week.
Surviving are two sons, Leslie
Evans, New Liskeard -andGordon,
Clinton; two daughters, Mrs. J.
(Lucy) Whaley, St. Thomas• and,
Mrs. E, (Mona) Davis, Stratford;
one brother E. S. Smith, Toronfo,
and seven grandchildren.
Attending the funeral from a
distance were Mr. and Mrs. E. S.
Smith and Mrs, L, Levis, Toronto;
Mr, and Mrs. L. C. Evans, New
Liskeard; Mr. and Mrs. W. Davis,
Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Davis, Strat-
ford; Mr. and Mrs. J. Whaley, St,
Thomas and R. G. Evans, RCAF

Celebrate 25th
Wedding Day
The home of Mr, and Mra..Reb-
ert Elliott, •Goderich Township was
the .scene of a very happy gath-
ering on May 18, when about 30
friends and relatives gathered to
honour Mr, and Mrs. Melvin El-
liott, on the occasion of their 25th
Wedding anniversary,
The program included a mock
wedding, in which Robert was the
bride; Mrs. William Batkin was
the groom; William Batkin,
bridesmaid; Mrs. Harry Watkins,
best man; Mrs. Mervyn Batkin,
the bride's father; Harry Wet,
kills, soloist; Mrs. Don Gibson, ac-
ted as minister and Mrs, John
Huller organist. They presented
the couple with an electric tea
kettle, electric iron and a silver
cream • and sugar on a tray.
Turkey supper at midnight and
anniversary cake tapped off the
event.
Mr. and Mrs. Elliott have lived
in ,Clinton since their marriage in
1932. They have three children,
Robert; Janet and Dianne at
home,
