Gideons Camp
Names Bayfield
Man President
(By our Hensall correspondent)
The South Huron Camp of Gid-
eons, held their annual meeting on
May 13, at the home of E. A.
Mousseau, Kippen, and elected R.
L, Millen, Bayfield as president.
A review of the past year's work
was made with a great deal of sat=
isfaction, for a total of almost
3,000 Bibles and Testaments have
been placed in the schools, hospi-
tals, hotels and motels of the dis-
trict.
The task of entering every
school and institution of this
community and presenting these
Bibles as gifts can be appreciated,
when it is known that it is car-
ried on by members, who have to
take time off from their daily
work.
The South Huron, Camp is one
cf about 120 such camps across
the Dominion of Canada. About
a quarter of a million copies of
the Word of God were placed in
Canada last year and the demands
are ever-increasing.
The election of officers resulted
as follows; vice-president J. R.
Thompson, Seaforth; secretary, C.
E. Talbot, Bayfield; treasurer, E.
L. Cornish, Clinton; chaplain, E.
A. Mousseau, Kippen; memorial
Bible representative, T. H. Hoff-
man, Dashwood; church service'
chairman, D. Jolly, Exeter; scrip-
ture distribution chairman, E.
Cudmore, Hensall.
Three additional members make
up the complete camp, namely, B.
Hoy, Goderich; E. Oesch, Zurich;
R. Brubaher, Clinton.

_. Retirement Savings Plans Eligible for
INCOME TAX DEDUCTIONS
The Income Tax Act (Canada) was recently
amended to permit individual taxpayer's to
deduct fr9m their income, within certain limits,
premiums paid for retirement savings plans in •
[957 and later years. .
The savings portion of either . a new or an
existing life insurance policy may be quali-
fied as a retirement savings plan. Existing life
insurance policies therefore need not be sur-,
rendered in order to take advantage of this tax
relief. .
, The possible advantages of the deduction ,
should in each case be cbnsidered in rela-
tion to the restrictions required by law to be
included in a savings plan to make it eligible
for the deduction, and in relation to the policy-
holder's own particular tax circumstances.
Policyholders interested in the new deduc-
tion should consult their life insurance under-
writers or their companies.
