Well, the Pike and Pickerel
Season is underway tinge again.
The easiest way to recognize it is
to notice the cars going through
town loaded down with camping
gear, fishing poles, suitcases, etc.
Every fisherman at this time
of year seems to develop a fever
that no doctor can diagnose (quite
a few doctors have the same ail-
ment). Put a fishing pole into
their hand and point them north
and you Will never see a healthier
specimen, They all want to go to
those far eway lakes that look
bluer, or is it fishier,
Of course there is always the,
poor unfortunate . . , the fellow
who never seems tb catch any
fish . the only 'bites he ever
..gets are from mosvitoes. For
him I have selected a poem that
I think 'he will enjoy, it will pos,
sibly, to a small 'extent, put his
mind at ease, Here it is . .
ANY LUCK TODAY
You've asked, "Hi brother! Any
buck today?"
As you pull from shore and you're
on your way.
You've trolled the lake without a
strike
Of either bass 'or perch or pike,
You've 'east the cove and lily
pad— And still no strike was there, by
gad!
You then still fish, but all in vain!
With all your work what did you
gain?
When you return
Say: "Any luck, brother?" "No not
today!"
But ah, my friend, don't talk that
way
You've had the best of luek. today!
Lucky to -be in the great outdoors,
SaniPling the wares of Nature's
stores,
You've 'had the air, the sun, the
breeze,
The song of 'birds from shoreline
trees.
If we all got fish, much to our
sorrow
There would be no fun left for
tomorrow.
