Two Inquests Set For 'Traffic 'Deaths

suffered a fractured skull and
neck, . and died instantly.
The little girl is survived by
her parents who came to Hensall
two and one half years ago from
Holland; one brother Eddie, twoa
and one sister, Margaret, six
weeks.
•An inquest has 'been. ordered by
coroner Dr, C. C. Goddard in the
Hensall town hall next Tuesday
afternoon, April 30.
Funeral service will be held for

On Friday night, RObert Miller,
50 year old proprietor of the gen,
eral store at Farquhar, RR 1,
Kirkton, was killed in a car-truck
crash three miles south of Exeter.
Miller was alone in" his pick-up
truck going west on the county
line. In the car travelling on
Highway 4, were Alec Hyde, RA
3, Kippen, who suffered a broken
arm, and was released from South
Heron Hospital, Exeter, on Sun-
day, Taken 'to St, Joseph's
Hospital, on Monday, were Mrs.
Hyde, suffering a broken ankle
and head injuries; their daughter,
Marjorie, 14, suffering broken
bones in her left hand and head
injuries. Mrs. Inez Bodenham,
Hayfield, with 'a fractured left
arm, is in. South Huron Hospital;
Jean Hyde, 18, another daughter
of A. Hyde, suffered bruises, only,
and was released from hospital.
An inquest .was called for
yesterday, April 24, in the Exeter
town hall, presided over by Cor-
oner Dr. J. C. Goddard, Hensall,
with Crown, Attorney Glen 'Hays,
Goderich, examining witnesses.
Mr, Miller is survived by his
vvidow, Muriel Drake, formerly
of Staffa, and two sons, Robert,
London, and Barry at home,

There was a good attendance
at church last Sunday for the
Easter Service. The choir sang
special Easter music, with Mrs.
Hairy Lear at the organ and
Marguerite Lyon at the piano.

W. A, held their April meeting in
the Sunday school rooms with 21.
members and one visitor present.
Mrs. Durnin opened the meeting.

the story on it followed by prayer.

April Meeting
The April meeting of the Sum-
merhill Ladies), Club was held at
the home of Mrs. J. S. L. Cum-
mings, with the president, Mrs.
Percy Gibbings in the chair. Roll
call was answered by 22 members
and three visitors. Mrs. Fred
Vodden gave the treasurer's , re-
port.
Mrs. Keith Tyndall and Mrs,
William Jenkins were appointed
to attend the Clinton Hospital
Auxiliary meeting in May. Mrs.
Gibbings was appointed to pres-
ent the shield for the Summer-
hill Club• at the• Hullett Music
Festival. $10 was voted to the
Easter Seals Campaign. Mrs. C.
A. Powell, Adastral Park, show-
ed slides on cancer. .Thank yeti
notes were received from Mrs.
James Snell and Mrs. Edward
Johnston. The raffle was won by
Mrs. William Loliett.
Mrs. N. Forbes gave a brief
outline of the. Shakespearean ,p1ay
"Hamlet", for the benefit of those
wishing to attend in Stratford'.
Slips and bulbs are to be exchan-
ged at the 'May meeting which
is to be held at the home of Mrs.
Ezra Ellis. Roll call is to be an-
swered by giving "the date and
year of your birth." The pro-
gram committee is to be' Mrs.
Earl Blake, Mrs. Chester Far-
quhar, Mrs. Forbes and Mrs. yod-

Prayer was by John Hoggart and
the topic was taken by Douglas
Riley. Lunch was served .and the
next meeting will be held at Tom
Whyte's.

explain the reason for this differ-
ence.
Approximately 200 new cases of
cancer appear each year in every
100,000 population. This means
'that during 1957 Canada, with a
population of 10,000,000, approxi-
mately 32,000 persons will devel-
op cancer. Some of these will be
cured by. radiation and surgery.
Many more could be cured if they
detected cancer symptoms early
and reported for treatment im-
mediately.
