(By bon Epps)
Last week our local conservation
officer with the able assistance of
Louis Forrest stocked the streams
in' this area with 7,000 speckled
and 1,500 brown trout. This is a
smaller number than in previous
years due to the renovations now
underway at the hatchery at
Chatsworth, However, there will
be more next year.
Smelt
On April 15 the smelt put in
their first appearance at Port Al-
beit. The best part of the run
lasted approximately one hour with
the greatest number taken being
two pailfuls and part of a haver-
sack. Irf the weather stays, mild
we hope that the smelt ewill be
plentiful by this weekend.
