Friendship Night For IOOF Lodges
Staged In Clinton Lodge Rooms

field, were' present on. Saturday
evening, April 6, when. Clinton
Lodge IOOF NO4 83 were hosts for
the annual Friendship Night. The
meeting was held in the Christian
Education Hall, of Ontario Street
United Church.
Benson Sutter, chairman of the
special planning committee, was in
charge of the program. Charles
Nelson offered prayer and Mrs. W.
M. Nediger sang "The Lord's
Prayer,"
Guests of the evening included
Miss Jessie Little, , Brussels, DDP
of Huron District No. 23; who was
introduced by Mrs. John Broadfioot,
Noble Grand of Huronic Rebekah
Lodge; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lee,
Seaforth, the former DDGM of
Huron District No, 8, who were
introduced by George Falconer;
and Mr. and Mrs. William 0, Jef-
frey, Kitchener, the former the
Grand Master of Ontario, who
were introduced by Harold Tyn-
dall, Noble Grand, of the Clinton
Lodge,
In his remarks, Bro. Jeffrey
spoke of the true meaning of
Friendship. He complimented Clin-
ton Lodge on holding the annual
Friendship Night. "A person can
only have a friend if he is one,"
the speaker declared, "and we find
all the examples we need in Holy'
Writ, from which the teachings of
the Order are taken."
Special music was provided by
the Seaforth male quartet, com-
prising M, R. Rennie, D. Reid, J.
Scott and F. Willis, with Mrs.
Rennie accompanying on the piano.
Their selections included "Fellow-
ship for all the World" and "Be-
hold, I.,,show you a mystery", Mrs.
Nediger sang another solo, "Bless
This House".
Special guests of the evening
were members of the Lincoln can-
tons, coming from Niagara Falls
The April meeting of the Wes,
ley-Willis United Church 'Good
Will Club was held in the church::
parlour, with' the president, Mrs.
H. G. Manning presiding. Mrs. H.
C. Wilson gave the Bible reading
from Mark 14: 32-42 and the les-
son thoughts. Miss McRoberts of-
fered prayer.
Misses Jane and Irene Batkin
favoured with two delightful piano
and accordion numbers.
Four canvassers were chosen for
the Cancer campaign and also two
representatives to 'the Hospital
Auxiliary May meeting.
Mrs. .Stewart Middleton, the
guest speaker, . gave an excellent
condensation of the book, "Archi-
bald The Arctic" by Bishop Fleire;
Mg. Mrs. Powell showed a film in
the interests of the Cancer cam-

p.m., No advance registration is necessary for this clinic, but
attendance is limited to residents of Benson and the indicated
school sections.
Preschool children in other school sections will receive
their vaccine at a ;different clinic, the date of which will be
announced later through their school.

ion drill. This was the first time
that many of those present ever
had the opportunity of seeing such
a drill exemplified, and it was con-
sidered an outstanding part in a
fine evening of Odd Fellowship.
Miss Little and Mr. Lee expressed
appreciation on behalf of all pres-
ent, for the enjoyable evening. `
Refreshments were served. Those
assisting in the kitchen included:

received honorable. mention in the
third annual Western Ontario
newspaper awards, sponsored by
the Kitchener-Waterloo Press
Club. The award was for humor-
ous writing, in his regular column
"Queen's Bush Now."
There is strong work for WMS
which is a big help. Leaders are
greatly needed. He described the
hoine life; food is often scarce.
There is also need of clothing for
men, women and children.
Mrs. Fingland moved a vote of
thanks to the speaker and all who
took part in the meeting. Mr.
Wilson pronounced the benediction.
Lunch was served and a social
time enjoyed by all.

At Thankoffering
The Easter thank-Offering meet-,
ing of Wesley-Willis Woman's
Missionary Society was held on
Thursday night, April 11. Guests
were from North Side, Seaforth;
Ontario Street, Clinton, and Hol-
mesville.
Meeting opened with. Mrs. N.
Holland presiding (owing to the
illness of the president, Mrs. Nel-
son). Mrs. G. Beattie read the,
Scripture from Mark, Mrs. Wil-
son lead in prayer. Mrs. B. Sut-
ter and Miss Betty Nediger sang
a duet, the offering was taken,
followed by an instrumental' duet
by the Misses• Batkin, Ontario
Street.
Mrs.' B. Sutter introduced the
guest speaker, Rev. Bruce
Suitor, on furlough from Korea,
who told' of the work there. Rev.,
Mr. McKenzie was one of the first
missionaries of the Presbyterian
Church who went out 85 years ago.
There are now 600 congregations
under the United Church today.
