John Clark, Toronto, was a re-
cent visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Clif-
ford Epps. Mr. and Mrs. Clark
sailed Wednesday, on the Queen
Mary to England and the Contin-
ent, where Mr. Clark will again
conduct a tour sponsored by the
Ontario and Massachusetts Horti-
cultural Societies, It is hoped
that Clinton Horticultural Society
vVill again have the pleasure of
hearing Mr, Clark when he re-
turns from this interesting trip,

ious committees, The Watch. Tow-
er was given by Mrs. R. Fear. Mrs.
Fear had charge of the Study Book
and was assisted by Miss Wiltse,
Mrs. N. Carter and Mrs, W. M. Aik
en.

Blyth Couple
Wed 50 Years
Mr. and 'Mrs, Arthur Wiltse,
Blyth, celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary at their home
recently. Married in the old Meth-,
.odist, Church manse here in Clin-
ton, by Rev. Mr, Kerr, in 1907,
they farmed two miles south of
Clinton Until retiring to Blyth
five years age,
Mrs. Wiltse was formerly Grace
Bawder, daughter of the late
Thomas and Catherine' Bowden,
who at the time of their daugh-
ter's marriage lived in Blyth, They
later moved to Clinton, Two Sis-
ters, Miss Shirley Bowden and
Mrs. Vesta Streets, both live in
Clinton., and one brother Jack liv-
es in Hamilton,.
Mr, Wiltse is a son of the late
Levi and Polly Wiltse, Tucker-
smith Township. He has two
'brothers, Milton, Clinton, and Hor-
ace, Auburndale, Florida.

Happy Doubles
See Cancer Film
The Happy Doubles Club of On-
tario Street United Church held
its April meeting on Monday ev-
ening in 'the church parlour. The
devotional period was in charge
of. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Elliott, Mrs.
Jack McKnight took the Study
Book, -
Three films were shown, one on
cancer, one on music and one on a
mission boat. Canvassers for the
Cancer Campaign were appointed.
It was decided to sponsor a nur-
sery during the church service.
Mrs. Jack McKnight and Mrs. Wil-
lard Aiken will be in charge. of
this projedt. Lunch and a social
hour followed the meeting.

The Women's Missionary Society
of St, Andrew's Presbyterian Chur-
ch will meet at the home of Mrs.
James Makins, on April 16, at 2.30
p.m.
On Tuesday evening, April 2,
the members of the Clinton Unit
Of the F.W.T,A.O assembled in
the lounge of the Clinton Public
School. The president, Miss Luel-
la Johnston, opened the meeting
by reading a timely and thought-
provoking article entitled, "How to
GP to Church." The minutes of
the previous meeting and financ-
ial report were read by Miss Olive
Johns6n. The roll call was ans-
wered by each member stating
something she would like to do
during the Easter week,
Members were urged to get ex-
perience forms signed by inspec-
tors or secretaries of school where
they had previously taught, A
striking committee consisting of
Miss Grace Goodfellow, Miss Olive
Johnston and Mrs. K. Williams,
was appointed to bring in a slate
of officers for the coming year,
Two pupils who were competing
in the Canadian Legion Public
Speaking Contest, Misses Barbara
Inder and Lynn Shipley, then
spoke, Thq former chose the 'sub-
ject, "An Outstanding Canadian-
Sir Adam Beck," while the latter
gave a talk on "Canada's Tenth
Province, Newfoundland."

OES Lay Plans
For Cook School
Mrs. Joseph. Hart, Worthy Mat-
ron, was in the chair for the reg-
ular meeting of the Clinton Chap-
ter No, 266, Order of the Eastern
Star, held, last Thursday evening.
Plans were completed for the cook-
ing school to be held on May 7
and 8.
Mrs. C, M. Shearing was in
charge of the lunch committee.
Thanks were preferred those who
helped with the bazaar which was
a success on Saturday. Proceeds
from the bazaar and the cooking
School are slated for the OES
hospital room, and for the swim-
ming pool fund.
