that's a must for everyone.

a variety of ways. Since we're
talking desserts today, we'd like to
share another recipe with you. , .
for Peach Floating Island, Sun-
gold peaches 'neath. a satiny cus-
ard and meringue-topped, you'll -be
bringing springtime right to the
table, . . for this light milk des-
sert will "lift" post-winter appet-
ites.
JELLY ROLL CREAM
()Makes 6 Servings).
1 srnall jelly roll
2 .VablesPoon,s unflavoured gel-
' atin
6 tablespoons cold water
2,:%, cups milk
3 egg youks „
1/,,, teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
3., egg whites
1/3 cup sugar,
Cut jelly roll in % inch slices,
Place slices around outside edge
of an--oiled mold or sponge cake
tin, Soak gelatin in cold water.
Scald milk in top of double boil-
er. Beat egg yolks slightly, add
salt, Gradually add milk to egg,
mixture, stirring constantly, Then
return to the double boiler. Cook
over hot, riot boiling, water until
the custard coats the spoon, about
5 minutes, stirring constantly. Re-
move+. from heat and add softened
gelatin. Cool and add vanilla,
When mixture begins to thicken,
fold in meringue, made by grad-
ually adding sugar to the stiffly
beaten egg whites. Place by
spoonfuls into oiled mold lined
with jelly roll slices. Chill until
firm. Unrnold just before serving
and garnish with sweetened whip-
ped cream.
PEACH FLOATING ISLAND
(Makes 6 Servings)
1 (20 ounce) can sliced peach-
es
11/2 cups milk
3 egg yolks
3 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3 egg whites
Dash of salt
lh cup-sugar,
Arrange peach slices in 6 indiv-
idual serving dishes. Scald milk
in top of double boiler, Beat egg
yolks slightly. Add sugar and
salt, blending thoroughly. Add a
little of the hat milk to egg mix-
ture, blend, then combine with re-
maining milk in 'double boiler.
Cook, stirring constantly, until the
custard coats the spoon, about 5
minutes: Remove from heat and
cool slightly. Add vanilla and
pour Mixture over peaches in ser-
ving dishes.
Beat egg whites with salt until
stiff, but not dry, Gradually beat
in sugar. Drop from tip of a spoon
in small mounds onto very gently
boiling water, Cook for 2 minu-
tes with cover off, then turn
mounds over and cook for another
2 minutes. Carefully lift mounds
off water, draining off all water.
Arrange one meringue on top of
each curd in serving dishes.
Chill until ready .to serve.

At Dixon's
Opening Draws
Several Clinton and district res-
idents were helped in their spring
house-cleaning requirements rec-
ently when the winners were chos-
en from the free draw conducted
by 'Clayt Dixon's Auto Supply.
A new paint and wallpaper de-
partment was recently opened by
Mr. Dixon and the prizes were for
anyone,. who visited the store and
signed a ticket during the grand
opening.
.The following are the prize win-
ners and their prizes: Clarence
Cooper, Clinton, 100 square feet
of standard gauge linoleum tile;
Mrs. Robert Fairservice, Londes-
boro, "Jiffy" pre-pasted wallpaper
for one average size bedroom;
George F. Elliott, paint for one
average size livingroom; Oscar
Priestap, Clinton, paint for one
average size bedroom; Robert Van
Loo, Clinton, paint for one aver-
age size bathroom.
The RoAv Women's Mixiliary
met on April. 1, Mrs. Gilmore,
.president called the meeting to or-
der.
Wo new members were intro-
duced, Mrs, •DelLorig and MM,
Geiseler,
Mrs, Finley made a motion to
contribute for Easter Seals. Mrs,
Shivers seconded it and it was
passed,

previous successful visits to the
Ladies Prepare
For Next Year's
"Card" Season
Mrs. Roy; Cantelon, Clinton, gave
her home for the April meeting of
the Stanley Ladies' Community
Club. Mrs. Eddie Glen presided.
The meeting opened with the
Lord's Prayer, this was followed
by the secretary and treasurer's
reports. The collection amounted
to $6,56.
Twenty, members and visitors
answered the roll call with "A
particular day in your life that you
remember," There were also
five children present.
During the business session the
matter of repairing card 'tables
and chairs was discussed. It was
decided to buy three new card
tables and plastic covers for three
old ones. $10 will be sent to the
Easter Seal Fund.
A program followed consisting
of contests by Mrs. Robert Glen
and Mrs. George Cantelon; the
latter also read a poem; and a
reading by Mrs. Eddie Glen.
After a social half hour, lunch
was served by the hostess and
group.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Mrs. Verhoef. The
roll call will be answered with
"What's your Question?"

' Reynolds
The Protestant Chapel at RC-
AF Station Clinton, was the set-
ting for the wedding of Gerald-
ine Violet, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Leslie Reynolds, RCAF Stat-
ion Clinton and Robert McDougall,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Mc-
Dougall, Wingham, The Rev.
Nimmo officiated at the wedding
ceremony.
The bride A wore ,a waltz-length
gown of lace and net. She car-
ried a bouquet of white 'mums and
red roses.
Miss Betty Thompson was brid--
esmaid wearing a waltz-length
dress . of tourquoise 'flowered aye-
tline and carried a nose gay of
pink carnations.
Murray Kuehl was• the grooms-
man.
The couple will reside in Wing-
ham.

IA highway tax based on weight
of a vehicle and the miles it trav-
els has been suggested as a sys-
tem of increasing revenue to main-
tain highways.
Huron County Home and arrange-
ments were made for the visits
this month, with Mrs. Ringrose
and Mrs, Bruce volunteering for
the visit on April 4, and Mrs. Jam-
es and Mrs. Lee for April 18. It
was decided to provide' an Easter
treat for the Home with Mrs.
Hatherall volunteering to help Mrs,
Lee,
Mrs, Powell asked for volunteers
to canvass for the Cancer Cam-
paign and Mrs. Buck, Mrs, Geisler,
Mrs. Steeves, Mrs. McTaggart,
Mrs. Black and Mrs. Lee respond-
ed,
Mrs, Brightwell reported on the
rummage` sale held in the town
hall, March 30, at which $60.$7 was
realized, She thanked all the
members who helped at the sale.
Mrs. Brightwell moved that the
bake sale 'be held on' June 1, in
the town hall, Clinton. Mrs. Shiv-
es seconded this and the motion
carried. The bride doll raffle will
be drawn at the bake sale.
'Mrs. James and Mrs, Clark were
thanked for their help on the
"Shots Parade." Mrs. Finley mov-
ed the meeting be adjourned, and
Mrs. Hatherall seconded it:
Mrs. Black won the prize for the
best Easte'r bonnet, made from
things in the kitchen, and other
games were enjoyed. Refreshments
were served by the refreshment
committee, headed by Mrs. Shives.

London. Road Club
At Mrs. Rooth's
Mrs, Watkins presided for the
March meeting of the London
Road Club held at the lime of
Mrs. Rooth. Based on St. Pat-
rick's Day, the meeting included
Irish songs, and the roll call was
answered by an Irish joke,
Thank you notes were read from
the Engel and Falconer families,
and an invitation ;from Mrs. A.
Wiltse, to attend the Wiltse wed-
ding anniversary.
Mrs, Anderson was in charge of
the mystery hONi Which was won
by Mrs. Bruce Cann. Mrs; Collixis
was "in charge of the program,.
Which consisted, of a reading and.
an Irish contest,
Guest speaker was Mrs., X. B.
McRae, public health nurse, Clin,
ton, who gave an educationaa talk.
Lunch was served by Mrs, Wat-
kins and Mrs. Rooth,
At the next meeting on, April 25,
at the home of Mrs, H, Plurnateel,
hostesses will be Mrs. Cann and
Mrs. Blumsteel, Roll call will be
answered by presenting a spring
bud or flower. Mrs, Rooth is in
