At the recreation meetings held
Tuesday, March- 12 in the council
chamber; , Hensall, with chairman-
Frank Ellwood presiding, the
group laid tentative plans for a
boblby show in the town hall on
April 24, for young and old. They
also dischssed the possibility of
utilizing, the new room in the up-
stairs of the arena for badminton
and basketball.

Hensall United
Is Host To
Neighbour 6roups

The Evening Auxiliary of the
Hensall United Church met Mon-
day evening and accepted invite-
tions to the WMS birthday party
March 22, and to Main Street Un-
ited Church Auxiliary at Exeter,
on April 1.
The group Will forward $50 of
their allocation to headquarters.
They also agreed to share expense
of new cups and saucers with the
Woman's Missionary Society with
Mrs. Gordon Munn to act on the
Cammittee to purchase same. They
will cater to a banquet for the
local Association of Girl Guides
and Brownies on April 5, And will
put on a testimonial dinner hon-
oring -the choir oh May'2.
Mrs. William Mickle and Mrs.
R: Broderick offered to make flan-
nel folders for the sileerware.
The devotional prepared by Mrs.
Raye Paterson was given by Mrs.
Dave Kyle. Mrs, R. Cook sub-
mitted the treasurer's' report. The
study book-with a commentary on
the chapters dealing with Form-
osa and Indo China, was presen-
ted by. Mrs. S. Rennie, Delegates
were appointed to attend the Pres-
byterial at Clinton on March 27,
The meeting closed with the sing-
ing of a hymn and the Mizpah
benedictioh. Hostesses were Mrs.
Gordon Munn and Mrs. Kenneth

The Hensall Legion Ladies Aux-
_Diary held their March meeting
in the Legion Hall „last Tuesday,
presided over by the president,
Mrs. E. R. Davis. Application for
membership was received from
Mrs. Wilmer Dalrymple, Kippen.
The group' decided to entertain
Mrs. M. Luella Hall, Myth, Zone
Commander, also• Blyth, Wingham
and Clinton Auxiliaries at the next
meeting, on Tuesday, April 2.
Ten dollars was voted to the
Legion Olympic Training Fund;
$15 towards a television for West-
minster Hospital, London. The
group, has received a wheel, chair
(gift of the Red Cross). Anyone
needing the loan of this chair, is
asked to contact 'the president,

Carmel Ladies
The Ladies Aid of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church, Hensall, met
on, March 11. Mrs. Clarence
Reid's group was in charge of the
devotional. The president Mrs.
Percy Campbell opened the meet-
ing with a hymn and prayer. Mrs.
Reid presided for the worship. Mrs.
Rochus Faber read Scripture pas-
sages and Mr's. Glenn Bell took
the devotional "Pearls For Pearls."
The group were led in prayer by
Mrs.• Reid. A beautiful poem,
"What would I say?" was given
by Mrs. Archie Hoggarth. •
A committee was names to look
after repairs to the church tables,
and another, to look after repairs
of'the church gowns, The late for
the Annual pork supper was set
for Friday,' April 12.

Cancer Campaign
The Friendship Club met Wed-
nesday, March, 13 in St. Paul's
Parrish Hall., The president opened
the meeting by repeating the eltib
prayer and Lord's Prayer.
The president reminded the-girls
that orders, were being taken for
the Easter Ideal magazine, and
suggested that those interested, to
contact Mrs. R. Bellinger, The
Cancer Society , requested volun-
teers for their canvass of the town
to ,be held April 15, 16 and 17.
Mrs. 'W. Morlok and Mrs.°.J. W.
Counter Offered to help with this.
Lunch was served by Mrs. W.
Morlok, Mrs. M. McAdam and Mrs.
J'. Murphy. The next meeting will
be on March 27 at 8.15.

Funeral service was held on
Tuesday afternoon in the.Ball and
Match funeral home, Rattenbury
Street east, Clinton, for Catherine'
Lovie Sprung, widow of the late
William. Bell. Interment was in
Clinton Cemetert
Service was conducted by the
Rev. A. Glen Eagle, Ontario Street
United' Coufeb,- Clinton. Pall,
bearers were Donald Sprung, Jack
Sprung, Fred Wagner, Norman
Wright, Fred V•odden and Per*
Gibbings. Flower-bearers were
Robert Ball, Gerald Ball, David
Ball, John Ball and Allan Ball,
Born near Auburn, Mrs. Ball
had lived in Clinton almost all her
life. 'Since the' death of her hus-
band, William, Ball,, in 1947, she
had made her home 'with a son,
Hugh Ball,,,at RR 4, Clinton, She
was a member of Ontario. Street

Death came in Alexandra Mar-
ine and General Hospital, Goder-
ich, on Sunday morning, March 17,
4957. She 'was in her 77th. year.
Surviving are three sons, Stuart,
Cooksville; Hugh, Clinton and Mel-
bourne, Goderich; two daughters,
Mrs:: Stanley (Sadie) Jackson
lappen and Mrs. Henry (Jessie)
Anderson, Detroit; one brother,

ers' School at Alma College, which
she attended last year. This school
has grown• in -the past pa years
from an enrolment of 45 to 168.

Cecil Roberts, Kitchener, field
secretary for the ,Canadian Gideon.,
International was the speaker at a
special service held in St. An-
drew's United Church, on Stinday
morning. He also addressed a
gathering at the • Presbyterian
Church in Seaforth 'in the after-
noon.
Mr. Roberts 'was in the village
fof the regular monthly meeting
Of this Gideon camp, held at the
home of R. L. MacMillen on Fri-
. day,evening. About 12 were pres-
ent. ,R. L. MacMidlen is president,
and Clifford Talbot, secretary.
Mr. MacMlilen was associated
with the Gideon work in Londdri
and two years ago, .began the work
in this district. About 18 months
age this camp Was organized. It
covers, Colborne Township, and
South Huron. 2,006 Testaments
I have already been distributed' to
school children, and 1,000 Bibles
placed in hotels, motels, hospitals,
doctors' offices, etc
Recently, Bibles; have been plac-
ed in the. New Ritz Hotel and
others will be placed in other..vil-
' lage hdtels. -
Although there is no activity for
the Ladies Auxiliary to the Grid-
eons, whose special work is among-
st trainees in hospitals, the wom-
en: accompany their husbands and
hold their own meeting at the
same time. Mrs. R. L. MacMillen
served refreshments following the
meeting at her home.
