The theme of the meeting will

and Truth". The worship service
at each session will carry out this
theme.

Western Canada, and the USA.
She was thanked' by Mrs. F. Fing-
land.
The Mizpali benediction; closed
the meeting, after which refresh-
ments were served by Mrs. Ball's-
group.

OBITUARIES
Wm. John Nediger
William John Nediger, - Clinton,
died in. Clinton Public Hospital
on. Monday, in his 82nd year, He
had been-in ill health for • the past
six months and seriously ill for
two weeks.
A native 6f Wallace Township,
he moved to Clinton in 1903, where
he was a garage operator. Before
Ontario Hydro power was avail-
able, Mn'; Nediger, along with an-
other business man, owned and
operated an electric /light plant to
supply the Town of Clinton with
its first electric pfi-ver.
He was a member of •Wesley-
Willis United -Church.
His wife, the former Margaret
Waugh, died three years ago.
Surviving are t'Wo',...sons, Merritt
Necliger and John Nediger, both
pf Clinton; the latter a former
councillor and reeve or Clinton.
Also surViving are„four daughters,
Mrs. Noxinart (Daisy) Holland;
Clinton; Mrs. Clifford (Leona)
Holland, and Mrs. Harold (Linnie)
Turner, -both of Goderich; Mrs.
Gordon (Helen) Rathwell, Bay-
field; one sister, Miss Daisy Nedi-
ger, Hamilton. ,
- Service was from the Beattie'
fttneral home on Wednesday after-
noon by the Rev.-Hugh C. Wilson
of Wesly-Willis United Church.
Interment was in Clinton Ceme-

Rev. J. M. Menzies

Rev James Mellon Menzies, 72,
a former _missionary in China, died
at his home Saturday.
Born in Clinton, he graduated
from The University of Toronto
school of practical science in 1907.
After working several months as
tt land surveyor he entered Knox
college to study theology.
He was ordained in 1910 and
left to serve • as a Presbyterian
missionary at North Honan, China,
the same.. year. He married An-
nie Belle Sedgvvick, an Anglican
missionary; in 1911. ,
While at Changte in Anyang
province he identified the Waste
of Yin, the capital of China dur-
ing the second part of the Chang
dyna.Sty from 1311 to 1039 B.C.
He thus became letereSted in
Chinese archaeology and in 1911
published the first work on, the
subject, '"Oracle Records frier' the
Waste of Yin." '
Menzies served in France dur-
ing World 'War I as a staff cap-
tain with the Chinese label- corps.
He served as a ChineSe consult-
and to the United States office a
war information during World
War II.
Survivors include his wife, a
son,-Arthur, Ottawa, and a• daUgh-
ter, Mrs. Jarries E, Hummel of
Freelton, Onta.r10,

Mrs. Ctldmore who was in her

tonian Club was held in-the coun-
cil chamber on Wednesday, March
13; with the first vice-president,
Mrs. J. Johnston, presiding in the
absence of Mrs. E. Epps. ,
"Roll call-was answered by -the
paying, of tea fees. The mystery
prize was won by Mrs. Colclough.
An auction sale of articles donated
by the members and conducted by
Mrs. Colclough realized $10.89.

in• the council chamber on April
10, when' a sale of slips, plants,
seeds and bulbs will be held.
The club members ,are making
up 50 yards of flannelette for the
Woodeden Children's Camp, near
London.

call was answered by 14 members
and two visitors.

the next meeting.
A contest given by Mrs. Jack
Smith was .won 'by Mrs. Bill Hol-
land and the .mystery prize viias
won by Mrs. Elmer Daley- The
meeting was adjourned by singing
"God Save the Queen" and the
remainder of the afternoon was
spent in quilting. Lunch was seri,-
ed by the Hostess, assisted •by Mrs.
Bill Holland. The next meeting
will be held at Mrs. Bill Holland's
on Thursday, April 4.
