ber 16, They began by repeating
the Mission Band , Purpose and
hymn.
With Joan Elliott at the piano
they sang "Silent Night.' A poem
"Christmas Night,"twas read by ,
Marlene Keys. Mrs. Robert Mc-'
Kinley read the Scripture, Luke
2; 1-20. The minutes were read.
by ail McBride, and the roll call
was answered with something per-
taining to Christmas, Following
the offering, Gwen McBride led in
prayer.
"The Ship that Celebrated
Christmas," taken from the World
Friends, was read by Mrs. Clare
McBride. A nativity scene was
construc.ted from 'cardboard and
the meeting closed with prayer,
WMS Meeting
Mrs. Clarence Parke opened her
home for the Christmas meeting
of the Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety, of Goshen Line Church when
Mrs. John Armstrong presided.
Mrs. Bruce Keys opened the
meeting .with ehristmaS carols
played on the piano. Mrs. Will-
iam Hayter read the Scripture.
The candle lighting service from
the Missionary ,Monthly was fol-
lowed. Those taking part were,
Mrs. Russell Erratt, Mrs, Bruce
Keys, Mrs. Floyd' Armstrong, Mrs.
William Clarke; Mks. Kenneth
Parke and Mrs. T. J. Pitt repres-
enting different land's 'as each
candle was 'lit.

be presented in the township hall,
Varna, on. Friday evening, Jan-
uary 4, at 8 o'clock.
The YPU of the United Church
visited -a number of homes on
Sunday evening singing carols.
Holiday' visitors over the week-

Pitt and family, Miss Margaret
McClyinant, George Coleman, all
of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Frank

There, was no election of officers
as all had been re-elected at the
November meeting, except the ap-
pointing of Mrs. Glenn Swan as
assistant Mission Band leader.
The devotions were in • charge
of Mrs. R. Allan, Jr., and those
taking part in a candlelighting
-service were: Mrs. W. Scott, Mrs.
'J. Henderson, Mrs. W. Broadfoot,
:Mrs. V. `Hargreaves, Mrs. R, Dal;
rymple, Mrs. E. Allen and Mrs. G.
„Swan. Mrs. J. Cairns took the
solo part, "0 Come All Ye Faith-
ful." The leaders closed this part
of the program with a benediction.
Mrs. W. Scott and the CGIT
girls sang a number of carols. The
girls presented their leader with a
gift in appreciation, of her work.
Musical numbers were given by
Mrs. M. Wilson on the violin and
Mrs. G. Henderson at the piano.
Christmas meditation was giv-
en by Mrs. Davison, She urged
that all remembeit during the fest-
tive season the real meaning of
Christmas and give the Babe of
Bethlehem his proper place in
their homes. —
The auxiliary honored Mrs. H.
Dalrymple by presenting her with
a Life Membership Certificate.
This program was much en-
joyed by all present. At the close
lunch was served and a social
hour spent:

Mrs. Albert Campbell 'died in
Clinton Public Hospital on _Dec-
ember 14, after having suffered a
stroke on Tuesday, December 11.
Mrs. CaMphell was the former
Amelia Barkley, daughter of .,the
late John Barkley and Annie Hen-
ry, Dungannon, and was in her
66th „!.year. She was a school
teacher before her marriage, and
taught Crewe and Donnybrook.
Forty-three years ago- she married
Albert Campbell and they -farmed
in East Wawanosh. ToWnship un-
til they ,retired to Auburn ten
years ago.
She was an• ardent worker for
her church and -community. She
was a member of Knox'-United
Church, a, life member of the Wo-
ma'n's Missionary Society and a
past member of the Woman's As-
'sociation, a Sunday school teach-
er, and past president of the Wo-
men's Institute.
surviving are her husband.; two
sons, Kenneth and Donald, East
Wawanosh Township; two daught-
ers, Mrs. Arthur (Marjorie) Spieg-
elhurg, East Wawanosh, ,and Mrs.
Stanley (Jean) Abel, St. Thomas;
13 grandchildren; a brother, Dav-
id Barkley, Calgary, Alta.; four
sisters,„ Mrs. Robert Fitzgerald
and Ml's. Richard Gardiner, thin-
gannon; Mrs. Joseph Cobb, Assins
iboia, Sask.; Miss; -William' Knox,
'Limerick, Sask: Also surviving
is her father-in-laW, W. H. Camp-
bell, who is in his 101st year and
has been, cared for by Mrs. Camp-
bell for the past 17 years,
A private serfsece was held at
the Arthur funeral ,home, Decem-•
ber 17, follewing a publiC service
at Knox"'United Church, with' the
pastor Rev, R. Hinz in charge,
During the service Mr. Elliett
Lapp sang, "Nearer My God to
Thee," The many beautiful flor-
al tributes bore mute testimony
of the esteem: of the deceased.
The pallbearers were six.elders
of the church, George Millian,
William Straughan., Charles Scott,•
John Durnin,,Pliver Anderson and
,Harold Webster. Interrnent was
made in Dungannon Cemetery.

George Coleman

George 'Coleman died suddenly
on: Wednesday afternoon, Decem-
ber 19, -at the home of his son
Anson- Coleman; Stanley Town-
ship. He was in his 89th year and
was born on the farm where he
died.
He was the son of the late
Francis Coleman and Eliza Smith.
In 1898 he married - Elizabeth
Turner who died in 1902. In 1908
he married Mellissa Webster who
died in 1948.
He is survived by one son and
four daughters, WS. Elgin (Elsie)
McKinley, Stanley; Mrs. Fred
(Mabel) McClymont; Anson,
Stanley; -Mrs. Ross (Grace) Chap-
man, Tuckersinith; Mrs. R. J.
(Gladys) Doig, McKillop. There
are 18-grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren. Also two sisters,
Mrs. A. E. (Dinah) Elgie, LaVer-
ne, California; Mrs. Henry JMary
Ann) Ortwein,, Winnipeg,' Man.,
He lived on the home 'farm until
1929 when he moved to„ Egmond-
ville. He was well known as a
cattle drover, He was a member
of the session of Egmondville Un-
ited Church.
The funeral was held on Satur-
day, December 22, from the
Whitney funeral home, Seaforth.
The Rev. Dr. Semple, Egmondville
United Church and. Rev. T. J. Pitt,
Varna, officiated. The EIgmond-
vile choir sang one of .his favour-
ite hymns.
, The pallbearers were six grand-
sons, Anson-and Robert McKinley,
Gordon and George Coleman, Ivan
McClyment, James Chapman. The
flowerbearers were"-, also grand-
children, Sandra, Grace and Elsie.

neth Fanieen, Margaret and Joan
Meayniont, Jack Coleman and
Robert McClYmont. Interment
was in Hayfield 'Cemetery.

Aldea Anbin a
Miss Aldea T. Aubin., 26, died
on Wednesday, December 26, in
Scott• Memorial Hospital, Seafor-
th. She was a daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Alex Aubin, Brueefield,
and was born at ,S Joseph.
Surviving ,.besides her, parents,
are seven brothers; Patrick, White
Horse, Yukon; Regis and John-,
Seaforth; Orville, Breslau; 'Victor,
Guelph; Lloyd and Andre, Bruce-
field; and four sisters, 'Mrs. Una
Montague, London; ,Mrs. Armelda
Fulford, linton; Mrs. V. Meiding-
er, Zurich; and Mrs, R. McNichol,
Calgary.
Resting at the Box funeral
home, Seaforth, until Saturday
morning, December' 29, and Req-
uiem High'Mass will -be sung at
10 a.mf, in St JoSeph's Church,
Clinton, by -the: Rev. 3. W. P. Gra-
ham. Interment will be made in
the parish cemetery,

escaped injury the' morning of
December 26, when his cart left-
Highway 21 about three and a,
half miles south of Goderich,
smaShed off a telephone pole and
came to a stop against a fence-,
