Annual Meeting.
The Woman's Missionary Sec*
iety .of the Unite Church* met .at
the parsonage,. Thursday last, with
a good attendance. Reports were
heard from the secretaries and of-
ficers were elected for 1,957,
The reports were all very good
and especially the treasurer's re=
port 'which- showed' the :allocation
of $245 had.,.bee.n met and, a sorb -
Stan al .surplus also.
The nominating committee had
a list of names to suhipit 'to the
meeting for .its approval': 4n4 these
names ,were read by Mrs, P. Ren,.
net— and ratified by vote of the
members: president, Mra. Harvey
Hohner; vice-presidents, Mrs,
Renner, Mrs, A, 'Dun',, Mrs. C.
Bell; secretary, Mrs, Robert
Scotehmer; treasurer, Mrs, .Glad-
win Westlake,
retary read the minutes aid the
collection was taken.
A motion was passed to buy
cleaning supplies. Other motions
included i. donation of $5 to the
ChriIdren's Aad at Goderich; a.
special collectionamounting to
$3.25 and some parcels' of cloth-
ing, Mrs, Bellchamber offered to
take all these to Goderieh on Sat-
urday,
Mrs, Ross Middleton, Mrs. Alf-
red Scotchmer and Mrs. R. S.
Roddick were named as a namin-
ating committee -to bring in a
slate of officers' for 1957. ' The
next meeting will be held on Wed-
nesday, January 9, 1957.
The Birthday box was opened
and $5 fort' the Woman's Auxiliary
was given to them in time for
their annual meeting,
Pre-Sehool-Age ,Party
The Trinity •Club has been spon-'
spring a pre -school-age children's
party for some, years. This year,
it was 'held in the Parish Hall on
Thursday afternoon, December 6.
. The members soon forgot that
it was very foggy and sloppy out-
side when they entered' the build-
ing with -its Christmas decorat-
ions. '
The 'tree was very pretty with
its coloured lights and ornaments.
A giant lighted Banta stood beside
the stage, . Showmen, balloons,
candles and other .decorations: ad-
ded to.•. the Christmasy atmos-
phere.
The tea table >vas quite pretty
with its Christmas table cloth,
and Santa and his reindeer as a
centerpiece, with lighted candles:

She was The • former Agnes
Cleghorn, of r.Guelph Township
After= their marriage,. Mr, and
;Mrs, Stothers made their home at
Clinton, Essex, Arthur and Fer-
gus where he was agricultural re-
presentative, .1n, 1951 they moved
to Lucknow,
Resides her husband, she is
survived, by four daughters; Mrs,
W. A. Bradbury, Stockton-on-
Tees, England; Mrs. R, .C. Pass-
mike,
assmore, Tweed; Mrs. Brock Whale,
Cooksville; Mrs, •3. D. Schultz,
Burlington; and one son, Steve
Jr,, Winnipeg.
Mrs, Gairdner helped the child-
ren With their singing gaines, as-
sisted, by several members' and
in -Shen.
After everyone was tired from
going .around the Mulberry bush,
Dropping the Handkerchief, Lon-
don Bridge is 'Falling Downy etc.,
the chairs werearranged and
Mrs. Gairdner showed some child-
ren's slides. Mrs. Outerbridge,
and later Mrs. Higgins toldthe
stories projected on the screen.
Small . tables were set •up for
the wee ones, and lairger tables
for the "not so wee." The child-
ren enjoyed chocolate milk and
cookies while the Mothers sipped
a cup.. of tea.
The' children received candy
canes,' apples and balloons and,
after a short play together, the
party.' was brought to a close just
after four o'clock.
Comments from some "
mm om of the
mothers was to the effect that
they enjoyed the party as much
as the children, and- hope for .,.a
bigger and better one next year.
