GEORGE BrErITM.(nominated

Perhaps he should have put in an
air-:conditioner for the council

view the cost of renovating' the
town hall. 'i1,is included taking
down 15 tons of bricks Which made
up the four' extra chimneys on the
hall; bricking in of windows and
deers, Totel cost was $6,891,90.
:Commenting on the finencing of
the 'eemetdry, Mr. Beattie saki, that
in the past the town had budgeted
two mills, or about $4,000 to sup-.
port in .This year, all of that was
used to help make up the cost of
$6,525 which went into the new
mortuary ,eault, plus $1.,500 re-
turned to the board as recoverable
er5rn shortages the year before,
leaving a balance of -41„,090.. This
was received from the balance left
over froin the special fund atter.,
the' town hall work was' finished.
As far'as operating the cemetery
went, none of the budgeted money
was used, and on cerrietery operte
tions alone, there was, a profit of
$95. Mr. Beattie predicted that in
(attire it would; be self-supporting,
Concerning,insurence policies on
town Peoperties, Beattie said that
it had been 30 years since they bad
been "reviewed. 'At that time the
hall had been insured for s81,000
Now however, the insurance adjus-
ter had said th-ere would- only be
$41,000 recoverable if the ban Weree.

anee coverage was 'reduced to
AMMO, With this and other ad-
juatments, insurance preminros had
been cut from 1478 every' year, to.
$450 every' three years. .This is,
In effect, saving of nearly $1,000
every. three years.

01-TARLIE$ W. BROWN, (nom-
inated by Burton' Stanley, second-
ed by Kurt VanRieson) reviewed
progress in the PUG. In the past
two years 400 kilowate have been
added to the transformer capacity,
and about nine miles of heavier
wire has been installed. 'There
are 20 new hydro services this
year. By the end of 1956, about
$14$,000 worth of equipment will
have been put on the system.
There have been 255 new water
services and 20 new sewerage ser.
vibes
Mr. Brown said he did not think
the system of 011eeting sewerage
payiments was entirely' right. - The
revenue from empty lbts was not
consistent with 'the increase in
worth to the lot which was occas-
ioned by having sewerage service
available, He said the town has
grown SD much it has been hetes-
eery- to plan for another drying bed
at the disposal plant. -
ANTOINE "REID" GARON, (no-
minated by T. H. Murphy, second.
en by A. F. Cudroore) said he'd
been in Clinton for 25 years and
had never •'seen a better slate of
officers at a nomination meeting,
nor had he seen ,a better report of
the year's work, "Every leader of
a committee has reported• on his
work."
Mr.-Garon said he liked a coun-
cil that was sincere, with a, bit of
humour, and quite a bit of fight.
"A little laugh is good for your
soul, as well as for your physical
nature," he said.
"You should have a ggod Public
