Ontario Signs
New highway signs adopted by
the Province of Ontario may, be-
come standard throughout the "Un-
ited States, Traffic Engineer W.
Q. MacNee of the Ontario High-
ways Department disclosed recen-
tly:
Fede'ral authorities in. Washing-
ton have asked for a copy of, On-
tario's manual of signs, and there
is an indication that" adoption of
the, manual mayA)e, recommended
to individual states.
Mr. MacNee said that traffic
engineers at conventions he had
attended in the United States had
often approved of Ontario signs
as a basis for standarization.
Five years' research ha' preceded
adoption of this Province's new
system based on a motorist's pro-
gressive reaction in identification
of a sign beginning first with co-
lour; then shape, and then symbol
or legend.
Santa Claus' made his 'annual visit to the hardware store of
Ball and Mutch last Saturday afternoon, and distributed gaily col-
..oured balloons to all youngSterS who came to see him. Here Ricky
