was held last Thursday in the
thumb half'with a large attend-
ance, The president, Mrs. Charles
Nelson presided for the worship
service using a Thanksgiving hymn
and poem to open the "fleeting,.
Mrs. Margaret Addison offered
„prayer and Miss Esther Jamieson
read the Scripture,
Special music of the evening was i.
supplied by a ladies' quartette,
Mrs. ormati Shepherd, Mrs.
Wesley Holland, Mrs. Douglas An-
drews and Mrs. Benson Sutter ac-
ceropanied .by pianist Mrs. Ray
Vincent, They sang,. "Beautiful
Bible" and "There Shall be. Sow-
ers! Of Ble'ssing."
The special speaker was Mrs,
Paul Yates who with, her doctor
husband and two small sons, is
home on furlough from Nigeria.
Mrs. Yates •- spoke . of how the
beauty of this country impressed,
itself on her and made her feel the
vast contrast b etween Africa aind
Canada, in so 'many ways-the
country-the dress - the. homes.-
greatest contrast of all is the
transformation which a heathen
native everiences when he is cop-
vented to Christianity.
She told ihe ladies of many in-
teresting individual problems and
highlights of their work, and life
showing colored -pitcures which
were greatly .enjoyed„.
Mrs. Yates was• introduced to
the audience by Mrs. Gordon Man-
ning,

On Car Thefts
Twe airmen from RCAF Station'
Clinton, are scheduled to appear
in magistrate'St court, Goderich, to-
'day to receive sentence in connec-
tion, with a series of car., thefts
throughout this area.
In Godernh jail are AC2 Ken-
neth. Robert Bell, 22y and AC2
Herbert Reid, 18, botl) charged
with can theft. Two other air-
men and --an airwoman were held
for questioning at the RCAF stat-
ion.

Court on Tuesday morning and
were remanded until today..
Clinton„,police say is gang has
stolen at least five cars, three of
them from Clinton, in the past
few months. All vehicles were
later found.

garet Currie Warren, 30, of Thurs.

J. Warren, vice-president of Brad-
ford-Penn Oil Co. Ltd., was held- on
Tuesday, -October 9, at ' Calvin
Presbyterian Church, Delisle Ave.,
Toronto. Interment was ,at Mount
Pleasant Cemetery.
Mrs, Warren died Saturday, Oct-
ober 6, at Wellesley Hospital, To-
ronto.
Born in Toronto, she spent her
childhood in Clinton.
Surviving' are her husband, one
son, Richard; one daughter, Cath-
erine, a brother,- Thomas O'Con-
nell, Clinton; two sisters, Mrs. Ed.
(Dorothy) Layton, Clinton and
Mrs. Betty Hill, Leicestershire,
England.
