The Women's Missionary Society
of Carmel Presbyterian, Church,
Hensall, convened in the church on
September 6, for the home helpers
meeting arranged by Mrs. Len
Purdy ,and Mrs. Robeit Madge,
with Mrs.'Inez McEwari presiding.
Mrs. John golden read sacred pas-
sages fronvPMIrn 16,. and Mrs.
Madge offered prayer, Readings
were given- by Mrs. John Love,
(Outjook).; Mrs. Harold Bell
(Faith); Mrs. Basil Edwards,
(Prayer).
Mrs. E. Munn contributed a
piano solo, and Mrs.' Love and
Mrs. Bell, a vocal duet, with Mrs.
Madge accompanying at the piano.
The topic from the study book
was taken by Mrs. Archie Hog-'
garth.
During the business session
plans were. made for the Presby-
terial to be held in Clinton on Sep-
tember 11, and also for going to
Baylfield on September 12, when
the ladies. will be entertaehned by
the svciety of Trinitychurch.
Plans were outlined for the thank-
offering meeting in October. Rev.
D. MacDonald closed the meeting
with prayer.

Wash and core apples. Pack
cavaties in apples with brown sug-
ar. Place in a small baking dish
and cover bottom with small
amount of water. Bake in niod-
erat a oven (350 deg, F.) for' 30
minutes or until nearly tender.
Beat egg white until stiff. Add
egg yolk and beat well. Grad-
ually add sugar, milk, lemond rind,
lemon juice and butter, Beat well.
Pour over apples. Place baking
dish in a pan of hot water and
continue baking in a moderate ov-
en (350 de:1:: F.) until custard is
set, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Fairy Apple Cream
(Makes 6 to 8 Servings)
1 tablespoon gelatin
14 cup cold water
1 cup milk
2 egg yolks
2 tablespoons sugar
1%,i teaspoon salt
lit teaspoon grated ntitnieg
1 cup applesauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Soak gelatin in cold water. Then
dissoly,e over boiling water. Slald
milk in top of double boiler. Beat
egg yolks slightly, add sugar, salt
and nutmeg., Then add the milk
gradually, stirring constantly. Re-
turn mixture to the top of the
double boiler and place over hot,
not boiling, water. Cook until the
mixture coats a silver spoon,libout
7 to 8 minutes, stirring constantly.
Cool. Add gelatin mixture. 'When
custard begins to thicken, fold in
applesauce, lemon juice and egg
whites, %Pour into individual
molds which have been rinsed in
cold water. Chill until firm.
Aug], Almond Tapioca
(Makes 6 Servings)
% cup iirie-tapioca or sago

% cup pearL tapioca
Y.1, teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons' sugar
3 cups milk s
`1/3' cup slivered almonds
6 small apples
18 to 20 cloves
Brown sugarAr.
Combine tapioca, salt, sugar and
milk* in top of double boiler. Cook
over boiling water until tapioca is
transparent, about 15 minutes:
Add-almonds.
Core - and pare apples. Stick 3
or 4 cloves in. each apple and stuff
cavities, with brown sugar. Ar-
range apples in a buttered baking
dish. Pour cooked tapioca mix-
ture over apples and bake in a
moderate aver (350 deg, F.) until
apples are tender, about 50 min-
utes.
Note If using pearl tapioca or
sago, soak it in milk for several
hours before cooking.
