Yesterday was a sad day -ter
baseball in .Clinton as the last

tion bowed .put for the 1956 season,
Wheatley Peewees proved them-

the big difference between the tnvo
c],ub. The visiting Wheatley kids
made only one mieeue'and backed
their pitcherwith b. solid 12 -hit
attack. Clinton came uP with .their
worst display of the season as al -
meet every man pulled a, "clinker"
at some time. 'Nine errors were
charged behind Roger Cummings
g g
who pitched a good game.
Clinton had to fight uphill from
the first inning; Cummings .retir„
ed the first two batters on: infield
out only to: walk the next and
have Foster, Reid, • Thompson and:
Jacobs belt sin les arta: two runs
were home, Hyatt fanned to get
Cummings off the hook. •
.After the first inning the Clin-
ton team • started to disintegrate
and ten unearned runs crossed`
the plate in "the next.four innings.
Clinton picked uel two runs in
the second as David McLennan'
singled; Roger Cummings, reached
first on an error; Smith, popped
to the pitcher and Murney fan-
ned, Budd Bayes cracked a double
to centre. In the third after Liv-
ermore lined to Fast,-Drapee and
Garon singled, McLennan fanned
but reached first when the third
strike got away from catcher
Thompson. Cummings was , safe
on a fielder's choice with Draper
forced at home. George Smith
was hit by a pitched ball forcing
Garon home with Clinton's third
run. Murney fanned to, end the
rally.
Clinton had scoring opportun-
ities in the fourth and fifth but
&]ae to hit -at key times and
erratic base running erased all
hopes of a run producing rally.
The Kinsmen Peewees are to be
congratulated on their play this
