After the most successful sees-
on since its-inception, Huron Chur-
ch Camp closed following a 'well-
attended AYPA Camp from Satur-
day to Monday inclusive.
The I5ean of this camp was the
Reverend Harvey Southcett of
Blenheim, who has recently been
Appointed to the -Holy Saviour
Church, Waterloo. Associated with
him in leading this camp were the
Rev. B. A. Silcox, Windsor, Rev.
Robert Mills, Watford, and the
Rev. John Birtele Sarnia.
speaker at the banquet on Satur-
day was the Rev. 'A. H. Davis,
Field Secretary of the MSCC who
has recently returned -from -a trip

Mrs. E. A, Featherston opened
her home on Satiirday, August ,25,
for a delightful miscellaneous
shower for her neice, Miss Beulah
Parker, Varna, a bride-elect of
Saturday. There were over 30 re-
latives present. The evening was
spent in playing bingo Under the
direction of Mrs. Ed,* Rowse, Dor-
chester, and Mrs. William Reid,
Toornto, Who had charge of the
entertainment.
Before lunch, Mrs. George Reid
read an address and Mrs: 'Rowse
and Mrs. W. Reid carried in '1
basket: laden with beautiful gifts
for the bride-tube. After open-
ing. the, Beulah expressed her ap-
preciation to each and all very
graciously. Refreshments round-
ed out a very happy gathering:

Varna Township Hall, where 90
people gathered to honour Miss

ember.

Hydro Picnic At
Elliott's Grove
The emplOyees of the Ontario
Hydro, Clinton, held their annual
Picnic on Saturday, August 27 at
Hart's Haven, Elliott's Grove. Re-
freshments and food were in good
supply and the event proved a
complete success. -
The afternoon began with a soft-
ball game between the ladies, and
led by "sluggers" T. Denomme and
T. Hartley outclassed and outscor-
ed the stumbling and butter-fing-
ered males.
Races and games resulted: boys
and girls upeto three years,,Deb-
orah" Gibbings; boys and
four to five years, Tom Lepping-
ton; girls, eeveri and eight years,
Bonnie Graharri; boys, seven, and
eight years, Gary Graham; girls,
nine and over, Sharon Dales.
"Wheelbarrow race, adults, "Kilo-
watt-hour" Gibbings, "Short Cir-
cuit" John Wilson; shoe throwing
contest, "slugger" Jane Hartley;
egg throwihg contest, "Kilowatt-
hour" Gibbings, "Short Circuit"
Wilson.
Hydro officials have asked that
someone find out where "Machine
Bolt" Don Dales learned the art
of egg catching.. Thanks to the
hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hart
for their generosity in making
their cottage available for this
!annual event.
The` aighlight of the evening was
when June was called to the front
where an address was read by
Miss Nancy Webster. June was
showered with confetti from bal-
loons which hung above her head
and was then presented with num-
erous' gifts.
June with the help of her girl
friends' opened the gifts and then
thanked the crowd with a fete well

A *bounteous-lunch was served
by the Varna ladies. •
