Miss Beverley Foote, London
when she was home over the
weekend, 'fell -and hurt her back.
She leaned against- the cement
balustrade on the steps to the
beach at Deleian Street and it
gave way,
The Bhlifield ti.ustees ,have had
the steps to the lake from Bayfield
Terrace repaired and put in good
order' and also repaired the steps
to the old bridge.

Edna R. Colbrit
Mrs. Edna R. Colbert, of 1536
Chapala Street, Santa Barbara,
California, passed away in a Santa
Barbara hospital on August 29,
following an illness of one year.
She was born in . Clinton, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Edward
W. Rodaway. She attended pub-
lic school and Collegiate Institute
in Clinton.
Mrs. Colbert was the widow of
the late Ftrofessor Thomas P. Col-
bert, who passed away in Peoria,
Illinois, in 1949. Professor Col-
bert was on the faculty of Brad-
ley University and `was a Profes-
sor of Engineering(' Following
his death, Mrs. Colbert returned
to Battle Creek where she was
dietitian at Battle Creek Sanitar-
ium Hospital for three years prior
to moving to Santa Barbara. She
was' a graduate of this institution.
From 'Battle Creek she moved
to Santa Barbara, where she es-
tablished her residency and held
the position of consulting dietitian
at the Santa Barbara, Medical
Clinic. She is survived by one
sister, May B. Jackson, with whom
she resided at 1536 Chapala Street.
Private ' services were held at
the Welch & Ryce Chapel, in San-
ta Barbara, California, with Dr.
M. Carson Miles, of the First
Methodist Church, officiating.
Cremation followed at the Santa
Barbara Crematorium. Friends
wishing may remember the Amer-
ican Cancer Society in memory of
Mrs. Colbert.

was the scene of a beautiful wed-
ding on Saturday afternoon, Sept-
ember 1, 1956; at two 'o'clock,
when Patricia Alma Lavada
Scotchmer, daUghter of Mr. and
Mrs. ,Charles H. Stotchiner, be-
came the bride of Percy Charles
Renner, son of the Reverend and
Mrs. Peter Renner, all of Bay-
field.
'caskets of all white gladioli,
ivy/ and lighted candelabras, made
a lovely setting for the impressive
double ring ceremony performed
by the Reverend Peter Renner,
father of the groom.
The wedding music was played
by- Mrs4 Donald Kingsbury,. organ-
ist. She 'also• accompanied the.
soloist, Miss Clara Clark, Varna,
who sang very beautifully, "I'll
walk Beside- you,", "The Lord's
Prayer," and "Because."
The bride who was given in
marriage by her . father, chose a
floor-length gown of white Swiss
embroidered:, nylon tulle and net
over duchess satin, fashionedi with
a Sabrina neckline, snugly fitting
bodice and lily point sleeves.
The bouffant, skirt fell in five
tiers, and. her full length over-the-
face veil of French silk illusion
was held with a crown of seed
pearls and bugle beads. The lat-
ter matched her three-strand seed
pearl necklace which had been
worn by her mother on her wed-
ding day. She carried a shower
bouquet of white starlite roses and
white pinnechio poms.
Mrs. Raymond Scotchmer, Bay-
field, was matron of honour, and
the bridesmaids were the bride's
sisters, Misses Charlene and Ruth-
ann Scotchmer. They were gown-
ed identically in ballerina length,
imported hammered satin.
The matron of honour was in
gold with matching feathered
headdress, The bridesmaids in sea-
mist with matching .feater head-
dresses. All three attendants
carried cascades of bronze baby
and pom 'mums,
W. Gordon Porter, attended the
groom. Raymond Scotchmer and
Glenn Brandon, all of Bayfield,
seated the guests.
The reception in the church 'par-
lours follOwed the ceremony.
Receiving the gdests, the bride's
mother wore cinnamon French ny-
lon taffeta, with mint green and
brown accessories. She wore a
corsage of gold 'mums.
She was assisted by thd groom's
mother, who wore navy blue silk'
net over taffeta, with navy and
white accessories. Her corsage
was of pink carnations. "
Decorations were Carried out in
pink and white Crepe With wedding
bells and horseshoes. The bride's
table was draped with ivy and
centered with the tiered Wedding
cake, flanked by tall lighted tap-
ers in crystal holders. Lighted
candles were on each gtiest table,
and gladioli banked as a back-
ground- corepleted the floral ar-
rangeniehts.
Four friends of the bride, Mrs,
George Sirnmense Mrs. Donald
Campbell, Mise, Jacqueline Cluff
and Mrs. Robert Talbot,. acted as
waitresse8.-
Vor the wedding trip to North-
ern Ontario, the bride Chose a
Mink liana glare dress with duety-
pink and bronze 'Patent accessor-
ies. She wore a -pink carnation
corsage.
Mr, and Mrs. limber will reside
in I3ayfield.
