permanent offices have been es-,
stablished in Stratford. • R. C.
Drew, the general manager, com-
menced his duties in Stratford on
July 1, and the Association has
been located in temporary offices
there since that time. I
Much of Mr: Drew's time has
been .devoted to organizational de-
tail in setting up headquarters.
He has also visited the Depart-
ment of Planning and Develop-
rnetn in Toronto and other Devel-
opment Associations, now organ-
ized, to learn details of their op-
erations. In addition he has' vis-
ited the Industrial Development
Branch .of the Department 'of
Trade and Commerce in Ottawa.
A report oh progress to date has,
recently been 'forwarded to the
mayors and reeves of member
municipalities as well as wardens
of the Counties of Huron, Perth,
Waterloo(' and Wellington, which
will embrace' the Association's
activities. Plans are' being made
for the establishment of a compre-
hensive development program for
the four counties and in Septem-
ber it is expected that active or-
ganization of zone c'Ornmittees will
be undertaken throughout the re-
gion. J. D. yaks, Guelph, presi-
dent of the association, plans to
accompany Mr. Drew on visits to
the member municipalities for this

Two Vehicles. Are
Involved' In
Highway 4 Mi'Shap
Constable Robert Siins of the
OPP detachineet, Goderich, in-
vestigated an-accident on High-
way 4 last night, in which two
cars were involved.
The mishap occurred just in
front of the Huron County Home.
Melvin 'Melndoe, RR 2, Goderich,
sloWed behind a farm vehicle. A
following car driven by 'William
McGuire, Goderich, drove into the
back of the McIndoe car when the
brake line broke:
Damage to the two cars was es-
timated at $325. No one was in-
jured, Both drivers are RCAF'
personnel. •
Church Camp-
Increases In Size.
Huron Church Camp (Anglican)
leaders report that despite rain
the camp this year was the best
yet. ,\Wonderful growth has been
shown in the silver: maples planted
one for each church in the dean-
ery.
Report also is that plastic dish-
es in use at the camp have re-
duced breakage. This year there
have been 700 children taking ad-
vantage of the training and holi-
daying at the Camp. One new cot-
tage ha"s been bat this year, and
four new cabins. The present
chapel is not large enough to ac-
commodate all attending.

Association in Perth County was
in lending assistance in the pre-
'paration of a brief on behalf 'of
the county which was presented
to the Ontario Water Resources
Commission when, it sat in Strat-
ford on ,August 9,
Mr. Drew said, "We hope to
make constructive contributions' to
work now being done by 'the var-
ious municipal bodies as well, as
Chambers of Commerce through-
out, the region in the near future.

civilian drivers, The winners will

finals. •
This contest, sponsored by the
Joint Services Accident Preven-
tion program, consists of a group
of written tests, as well as the
actual skilled driving competition,
The driving course required the
contestants to drive their "trucks
through a series of obstacles, which
included' a serpentine, offset alley,
straight line and parallel parking,
Contestants also had to show their
skill in backing down an alley to
a loading. dock, To be able to.

for the last 12 months.

less driving on Rattenbury Street
East; on August 3, when her car
was in collision with a parked
truck owned by Fire Chief Grant
Rath. Fine was $10 and cost,
John Gibbinge.,- Orange Street,
paid $15 and costs as a result of a
charge int driving without reason-
able consideration for ethers, in-
volving a vehicle driven by Sgt. K.
Worrell, at the main intersection
here on' August 4.

The 46,foot school-on-wheels
carrying $35,090 worth of equip-
ment, stopped at the plant of
Dominion Road Machinery Co.
Ltd. for 'the instruction course. •It
is estimated that the training unit
has travelled over 60,000 miles sin-
ce 1951, including trips to the Al,
can smelter site at Kitimat,
and the iron ore project in Lab-
rador. To reach the Labrador
project, the whole unit had to be
airlifted.
