Season Opens At Nooii This Year Ontario ducks' and geese will get an even break on the opening day of hunting this year. Hunting seasons for ducks, geese, 'and other migratory birds Till open at noon this year, it has hen •announced by the Canadian: Wildlife Service of the Depart- ment of Northern Affairs and National Resources, The change is intended to reduce the first-day' kill of ducks and ,geese sand' pro- vide the birds with more warning of the approach of hunters'. On- tario •and Manitoba are the only provinces that will open their migratory bird hunting seasons at noon this year. The migratOry bird regulations also re-impose the closed season on mourning doves. During 1955, an ,experimental open season on mourning doves was declared but proved unpopular. Seasons on migratory birds are: September 15 to Deceibber 15 in the northern district; September 29 to December 15 in the central district; and October 6 toL.Decein- ber 15 in the southern district except for Essex County where the open season on geese is Oc- tober 6 to December 31.
