Branch No. 260, Order , of the
Eastern Star, ".

furnish a send-private room in
the old section of the hospital,
which at the present time is
undergoing extensive _renovat,
. ions, A, M. Knight, chairman of
the board, states that this room
will be the one immediately to
the right of the present main
entrance, which is now in use
as an office for the superintend-
ent and secretary-treasurer.

Barbara Marie, 'infant daughter
of mp, and Mrs. Alvin Betties,
RR 2, Bayfield, was baptised in St.
PaursiAnglican Church of Canada,
here on Sunday, August 5. Rev,
G. W. Moore, Jeffersonville, In-
diana, who was rector of St.
Paul's in 1941 and officiated at
the marriage ceremony of the
baby's parents, conducted the bap-
tismal service,
The godparents are Misses Mary
Snell, Hamilton and Jayne Mary
Snell, Stratford; James Snell, Clin-
ton. A dinner was served after-
wards at the parents' home to 20
guests.

The 54th anniversary of St. An,
drew's United Church, was held on
Sunday last with large congrega,
tions attending both morning. and
evening services.
The Rev. Donald McLean.. Kes-
wick, who is in charge of St.7 An-
drew's congregation for the next
few weeks (and will take the ser-
vices on August'12 and.19, at Bay-
field, Portees.. Hill and Taylor's
Corners); introduced the speaker
Rev. George Scotchmer, of First
Presbyterian Church, Galveston,

The church choir of 20 voices
led the music under the able,, dir-
ection of Mrs. Kingsbury at the
organ. A duet by Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Whiteside and a quartette by
Misses Clara Clark, Patsy Scotch-
mer, Jack Whiteside and Ted
Dunn were much appreciated. At
the evening Service, a solo by
Jack Whiteside and an anthem by
the choir, with. duet by Misses
Clara Clark and Patsy Scotchmer,
added to the enjoyment of the oc-
casion.
The flowers' contributed by Mrs.
Hunter and Mrs. Cameron, were
very lovely in pink and white;
shasta daisies, pink, roses and a
large basket of pink and white
glads. These were arranged by
Mrs. C. Scotchmer.

were married July 18, 1910, cele-
brated their -40th wedding anniv-
ersary'en Friday, July 20, at their
Varna home; which was tastefully
decorated with flowers by Mrs.
Clifford Bpps, Clinton.
In the afternoon, guests were
welcomed by Mrs. William McAsh
and tea was served to . a large
gathering of friends, mostly from

ris Township centennial celebrat-
ions in Brussels on 'Monday and
took part in the speaking pro-
gram, taking the greetings *of the
Town of Clinton on that occasion.
Also taking part in the event were
Reeve William Jewitt, Hullett
Township; T. Pryde, MPP for Hur-
on; L. E. Cardiff, MP for North
Huron; John W. Hanna, MPP for
Huron-Bruce,

Mr. and Mrs. McAsh were mar-
ried at the hOme of the bride's
parents, the late Mr. and Mrs.
William L, Keys, West William
Si rcet, Seaforth. The ceremony
was solemnized by the bride's
brother, Rev. J. M. Keys, assisted
by the late Rev. James. Foote.
The bride is the former •Myrtle
Keys, Babylon Line, Stanley, and
later of Seaforth, and the groom
is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas J. McAsh,„Varna.
After a trip to the States, they
settled in Varna, where Mr. Mc-
Ash was postmaster and conduc-
ted a general store. In 1946 they
built a new home where they are
now residing. Mr. McAsh is still
postmaster.
They have two sons, William,
who in 1946 took over the busi-
ness of the store and'Floyd: who
is music supervisor in the Public
Schools at Dundas, and is also on
the faculty of the Hamilton Con-
servatory of Music, Hamilton.
They have four grandchildren,
Mrs. Ernest Pym is enjoying a
vacation at Hamiota, Mari. •
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hedden,
St. Catherines, spent the holiday
weekend with Mrs. .C. Redden.

were in St. Catherines over the
weekend, attending a Wedding.
Masters Bobby Mielde and 'Leo
Tiberio, returned last Saturday
from. Cub Camp where they spent
a week at Camp Onkwe.

Jack Snell an employee of Gen-
eral Coach Works, had the mis-
fortune to have a piece of ply-
wood fall' on his toe fracturing it
in four places.

Saturday. Miss Betty Mickle, To-
