C. Linklater to the principalship of Gananoque Model •School. This recognition of his merits will, no doubt, be gratifying to all who knew him, either as a public servant or a citizen. Mr. Linklater attended the Model school in Goderich in 1877, the first year of the Model school system in Ontario, and was the most successful teacher of the class, his standing in teaching itself, being 90 per out. His first school was in Howick, whore he taught three years, and in 1881 he attended the Clinton High School and was successful in the examination for a second class certificate. On returning from the Normal School, -where his certificate was raised a grade, he was appointed Brat assistant to Mr. Malloch, the head master of the Model school. Last year he was granted a First Oleo O. certificate, arid the previous year his fellow.teachers honored him by choosing him president of the East Huron Teachers' Association. His depar- ture from town will leave a void difficult to 011 as from the number of years spent here he became a useful citizen, and was a valuable factor in giving the Model school its present good standing. His success in teaching lies not alone in his clearness and thoroughness of imparting knowledge, but especially in the eager and force of his dia. oipline in developing habits of honor, probity said justice, among boys and girls of all classes. He always shows an intelli- gent sympathy fax hie pupils and by Maul. cation the athlete of self-control, drawing out the good, repressing the evil, he lays in early youth the foundation of true educatioa, the formatiott of character, His sueeeee in thie marks the strong iadividuality of the Man.
