• Althongh short several regulax,
players Hydro made a determined
bid to, defeat the ,pcower-pq.c)ted
Legion softball team last Thurs-
day evening. When Umpire Doug
Tbomdike, 041%1 the game at 'the
end of the sixth, Legion were out
in front 10-3,
Hydro outhit their opponent ten
to six but Jim Graham, the Hydro
pitcher, was the victim of nine
errors; they proved to be the big
difference. Bud Scboenbals, who
has .developed into one of the bet-
ter pitchers in the 'league, was on
the hill, for Legion and turned in a
great effort. Bud's fastball had
everyone swinging, and his down-
fall came when arm tired and
he had to toss his change of pace
too often. The Hydra batters
waited for the slow one to tee off.
"Hee" Kingswell led both teams
at the dish with three 'scorching
singles. He also scored two of his
team's runs besides turning in a
good game at first 'base. • Other
Legion hits went to Dick Frei-111ln,
Harold IVIcPherson and Lou Dutot,
Bob Draper and Bud Schoenhals
were hitting the 'ball hard but
several long blows were ruled er- R, Schoenhals and R. Fremlin;
