Town League 'Softball
The two games played during the past week tightened the Town
League Softball race and produced some surprising results. Uptown,
Who have been taking it on the chin .of late hadd most of their lineup
on hand ,and came up with a big rally to tie Hydro 8-8. On Tuesday
Junior Farmers behind good pitching and Stew Hroadfootts bat whip-
ped "Mike" Reynold's Fisk and Game team 14-9.

golfing career to date at the Arn-
prior course on Saturday, June 23,
when he fired a hole-in-one dur-
ing the Tecumseh, Tournament
play.
The feat was performed on a
143. yard hole Initlf-a number
three iron, and• was The first time
in the 25-year history of the
competition that a hole-in-one was
made. The last time a hole-in-
one was made on the course was
in 1953.

is about a half mile from the main
road while the Scout Camp is
about a half mile further in the
Jane, a distance from the road of
a little over a mile.

The game was called at the end
of the tenth because of darkness,

first inning and looked to be

the team into contention. Hydro

the dramatic finish,
Doug Walton was the big hitter,

er drove in a run for Uptown with
a triple in the eighth. Johnny
Wilson's double in the first inning
scoring two runs was the only
extra hit 'by Hydro.

eresting program of sports, pleas-
ing the tiny tots with a peanut

the longest, Mr. and Mrs, Clifford
Lobb, 40; years in September, The
men enjoyed games of ball and
horseshoe.
At the supper hour the vice-
president, Mervyn Lobb thanked
those who worked on table com-
mittees and the sports committe.
Their efforts helped make a suc-
cess of the 1956 picnic.
The slate of officers for 1957 is
as follows: president, Mervyn

Snyder; second vice-president,
William Atkinson; secretary, Mrs.
Lorne Jervis; treasurer, Lorne

Next year's place of meeting is to

SID3BBROOK REUNION
The Shobbrook family reunion
was held at Seaforth Lions Park
on July 1, with 70 present. All
sat down to dinner, after which
Stanley Shobbrook conducted a'
short bUsiness period.
Two '.minutes silence was held
in memory of departed ones.
Minutes' of last year's meeting was
read by secretary Mrs. Bert.Shob-
brook; and also a letter from W.
L. Shobbrook, Vancouver, B.C.
It was' decided to hold the pic-
nic next year at the same place
on June 30, The election of of-
ficers for next year resulted: pres-
ident, Norman Manning; sec-
retary, Gordon, Manning; treasur-
er, Clifford Saundercock; refresh-
ment committee; Mr, and Mrs,
William Williard and Mr. and Mrs.
Ernest Knox; sports committee,
Mr. and Mrs. William Gibbings,
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Shobbrook.
The sports were successfully
conducted by Joseph and Jerry
Crich, as follows: fine and under,'

.The 11th Sarnia Scout Troop 1•3
holding their camp this week next
to the Clinton Cub campsite, The
18 boys and two leaders are spend-
ing their camp away from "home"
this year, for a change. The`Court
of Honour of the' Clinton Scout
troop paid an. impromptu visit to
this camp after their meeting on
last Tuesday evening, and stayed
for part of a very enjoyable camp-
fire.
The Clinton Wolf Cub Pack is
going to hold a weekend camp for
24 Cubs this weekend. The Cubs
move into camp on Friday even-
,ing and' depart on Sunday after
noon, after an enjoyable stay in
camp.
The Clinton Scout Troop Moves
into camp this Saturday after-
noon, the start of their first full-
scale week's camp that has' been
held in years. Visitors day is on
the afternoon and evening of
Wednesday, July ' 11. We hope
that-many parents and friends of
the Scouts will come and visit the
camp, inspect facilities,, see
just how "Johnny" or "Billy'&. is
