Open house was held Thursday
afternoon and evening at St.
Paul's Anglican Church, rectory,
when the new rector, Rev. C. S.
Inder, and Mrs. Inder, received
and welcomed many members of
the congregation and their friends.
Receiving the guests in the after-
noon with Mrs. Inder was Mrs. J.
M. Elliott, and in the evening,
Mrs., W. V. Roy.
Tea was served in the dining
room, the tea table being centred
with white and yellow Dutch iris
and yellow candles. Mrs. Lillian
M. McKinnon, Mrs. Ceriel Van.
Demme, and Mrs. Fred Hudie
poured in the afternoon, and Mrs.
H. Kirby, Mrs. Harry Bartliff and
Mrs. Mae Trott in the evening.
Mrs. Clifford Epps and Mrs.
Horace Elvidge showed the guests
to the dining room. Serving sand-
wiches and cookies were Mrs.
Bruce Bartliff, Mrs, Kenneth C.
Cooke, Mrs, H. L. Mayhew, Mrs.

Meeting Held
The Women's Missionary Soc-
iety of St. Andrew's. Presbyterian
Church met at the home of Mrs.
William Shaddoek, on Tuesday.
The president, Mrs.- L. W. Mc-
Kenzie gave the call to worship
and invited Mrs. George Roberton
and Mrs. MeTaggart to conduct
the devotional period. Mrs. Shad-
dock gave the secretary's report
stating that the value of new
clothing for the bale was $40,20
and Mrs. 3. K. Makins, treasurer,
reported that receipts to the Pres-
byterial treasurer were greater
than last year at this time,
Mrs. D. J, Lane read part of a
letter from British Gniana show-
ing the progress of schools and
churches in that country.
From the , study book "They
Reach For Life," Mrs. Norman
Ball told the story of the natives
of Burma learning to read "Each
one Teach one."
After singing a hymn Mrs. Lane
closed the meeting with prayer.
Mrs. John Snider assisted the hos-
tess in serving refreshments.
Happy Workers
At Weiner. Roast
The Happy Workers Club held
a weiner roast on the lawn at the
home of Mrs. William Holland on
the evening of June 21. Ten games
of bingo were enjoyed. Mrs. Jack
Smith conducted a flower contest.
Four humorous readings were
given by Mrs. Wilfred Glazier,
Mrs. Kenneth Williams, Mrs. Geo-
ge Glazier and Mrs. William Hol-
land. Everyone enjoyed weiners,
coffee, watermelon and marsh-
mallows.

The Golden Links CGIT Club
met on June 18, in the school
room of the United Church with
18 present. .The president, Ruth
Million presided.
The meeting opened with My
Purpose, and CGIT hymn. The
girls then stood at attention and
saluted the Christian 'flag and
Union. Jack, A patriotic song was
sung and CGIT prayer,
The secretary, Gladys McClin-
chy, read the minutes. The roll
call was answered, by the paying
of fees. Club motto sand colours
were chosen.
The devotional period was taken
by Ruth Million, Elizabeth,Grange
and Joan Mills. Scripture read
was from John 14: 1-10; Matthew
25-; 31-40. ,Prayers were led by
Betty Durnin, Evelyn Hake and
Isobel Daer.
The leader, Mrs. W, T. Robison,
addressed the meeting on "The
Golden Rule." Then. instruction
in home nursing was given.
Group games were enjoyed.
"Impersonating dignitaries was - a
favorite. The meeting closed with
the girls' joining hands and singing
"Good Night Comrades" and the
Mizpah benediction.

for a reception for Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Consiet. During the course of

Rev. Donald' MacDonald, minist-
er' of Carmel Presbyterian Church,
left on Tuesday of this week, from
Melton Airport, to fly to Scotland

Supper Club
The fifth meeting of the Supper
Club was held at the home of Mrs.
Ed Davies. In the ,absence of the
president, Lorraine Heneeh, the
vice-president, Marie Andrews pre-
sided. The roll call for the next
meeting is to name a supper dish
containing vegetables. Lunch will
be served by Lila Daer and Helen
YUngblut. Mrs. Davies will show
hew to set table for an informal
meal and also how to serve it,
Mrs. Nesbit demonstrated how
to make salad dressing and Mrs,
Davies demonstrated how to make
a tossed salad.
Ruth Andrews and Bertha de
Haan served lunch and pictures
were taken. There were 12 pres-
ent. The next meeting will he
held at the home of Lorraine and
Norma Hensh, and Mrs. Filsinger,
the home economist, will be
present.
The new service station on the
highway across from Fred Toll's
was opened on June 15, with Clif-
ford Brown as operator..

The Ladies' Guild,of St. Mark's
Anglican Church met at the home
of Mrs. Tony Tonkowicz on. June
13, when they had as• guests
the ladies of Myth Anglican
Church. Mrs. Geerge Schneider
was in charge of the meeting.
Prayers were offered by Mrs. Ed.
Davies and the Scripture was read
by Mrs. L. Ruddy.
Mrs. e'ordyce Clark read a chap-
ter in the study book on India, and
Miss Josephine Woodcoele, Blyth,
gave a reading. Mrs. Gordon Tay-
lor favored with an -aecordian solo
and also accompanied the hymns
on the accordian.. Mrs. Tonkowicz
gave a reading, "My Religion,"
The topic, "Meditation on the

of the British Isles, leaving De-
troit by Trans-World Airlines on
Satunday, June 30, Mr. Doig will
arrive next morning at the Shan,-
non, Ireland, airport, He will re.
Main in Ireland, for a few days
and then fly to ,London. where he
will remain for about .a week then
visit in Scotland with the 'Scotch
branches of the Doig family. Fol.
lowing this he will return to De.

Decoration Day
Decoration Day services were
observed on June 17 under the
auspices of the Hensall Legion
and 100F with a short service at
the Cenotaph, Rev, C. D. Daniel,
Legion chaplain, delivered an ap-
propriate message at Hensall Un-
ion Cemetery, and Percy Campbell
read the charge to the Oddfellows.

post and reveille. Flags were place
ed the night before the services at
both Rensale Union and MeTag-
gart cemeteries, and at the Ceno-
taph by P, L, McNaughton and
Wilbur Parker,
Jack Simmons placed a flag at
the Cenotaph at the service on
Sunday. Sydney. MacArthur was
parade marshal. A very poor at-
tendance was' noted, very disap-
pointing to the officials in charge.
