Mr. Hugill had come onto the highway from a sideroad. After being struck it went into the ditch, struck 'a hydra pole and live wires fell onto the road and into the ditch starting a fire in 'the car which was' extinguished by police. Badertscher, 16, was taken to South Huron District Hospital, Exeter, unconscious, with head and, facial injuries'. His car was a total wreck. The game won by Uptowners 11-3, produced a surprising brand of ball and some, prolific hitting by Doug Walton, Dick Fremlin and "Scoup" Willis, This opening game was a close one for five innings. Rival pitch- ers Bill Cowan and Ray Anstett allowed just two and three hits respectively up until the end of the fifth and Legion were out n front 2-1. - • Laurie Colquhoun's triple off one of Cowan': slow balls was the blow that opened the flood gates.
