Lunnin, -and the Guide group .com- mittee, es well as the 15, guides, The 'banquet was oPened with the singing of "God Save The Queen," and was .followed with grace sung by the Guides, After supper, Peggy Dymond read the treasurer's report and the company entertained the mothers, • Gwen Shorey led a panel die, eussion on first class Guide hist- (By KEN MAGEE) A meeting was held last Wed- nesday, May 9, by the Clinton Scout Troop at their campsite near Hohnesville, They listened with in- terest to talks on the Naturalist badge, the Red Anchor badge, and the. Bushman's Thong. The Bubhman's Thong is primar- ily an outdoor badge, They were also told that the three Anchor badges, Red, White, and Gold; could be earned by Second Class Seouts, First Class. Scouts, and Queen Scouts respectively. Al- though the Anchor badges are de signed primarily for Sea Scone% any Scout may, earn and wear them. These badges have been un- fortunately neglected throughout most of Canada. We saw very few Anchor badges at the World Jam- boree last sumer. There are less than ten Scouts with the Gold An- chor badge in Canada., All four patrols of the Clinton troop are planning a weekend camp over this long weekend. Much work has been scheduled particu- larly in improving the patrol camp- sites. The Huron District Scout Camp- oree will be held from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3, at the Clin- ton campsite on the Maitland Riv- er, near HolmesviLle. . During the Camporee a course will be given on the Water Conservationist bad- ge. The camporee will be run on a patrol basis. Each patrol will come self-containede with their tents, personal equipment and food. Close to 300 Scouts are expected to attend: O Over 400 children under the age of 15 died of cancer in Canada last year.
