anniversary at their home on Victoria Street last Saturday, when
they were host to about 60 friends and relatives who dropped in
for a cup of tea, and to wish the celebrants' well.

of the late John and, Anne Walker
Sholabraek, pieneere' of Huron •

She Was We on Concession 10,
Mullett Township, on January 28,.
1867, and on September 12, 1893
she married John Wiggington Cart-
wright who predece,s.sed her in
July 1934. They farmer on Con-
cession 9, atualett, prior to taking
over the Hotel at laandesboro in
1913 and conducting an implement
business in the same place. Later
they continued the same business
in the Town of Clinton, and return-
ed to farming on Concession $,
Goderich Township, where Mr.
Cartwright passed away in 1934.
, Mrs, Cartwright has since made
her home with her daughters• and
a cousin,' going to. Stratford in the
Spring of 1952, with her youngest
daughter Lilian (now at 9 Caled-
onia Street) and being a patient
in the Stratford Hospital. for the
past three years,-

For many years he farmed suc-
cessfully on. Highway 4, north of
Hensall, before taking up residence
in the village. He was prominent
in Hensel', Lodge No, 223, IOOF,
was a past Noble Grand and treas-
urer for many years. He was a
member of Amber Rebekah Lodge,
Hensall and a member of Hensall
alnited Church.
Surviving are, his widow, the
former Maude Dickson; one son,
William, Grand" Bend; two daugh-
ters, Mrs. Morley (Helen) Sand-
ers, Exeter; Mrs. William (Mona)
Finch, Grand Bend; one brother,
John, -Hensall; one sister, Miss
Mande Glenn, London, and five
grandchildren.
Private funeral service was held
from the Bonthron funeral, home,
Hensel], on Tuesday afternoon by
Rev. C, D. Daniel, with interment
in MeTaggart's Cemetery,

Rapid growth and changes, in
Canada has made it necessary for
a census of population and agric-
ulture statistics, and because of
this, the Dominion Bureau of Stat-
istics will take the country's first
five-year Census on a nation-wide
scale. . -
Up until 'now, the findings of a
census each .ten years, has been
sufficient for government and in-
dustry to predict fairly accurately
what will happen. Now it is nec-
essary to do the survey more often.
The last censuavvas taken in June,
1951.

The heavy rains have done a lot
of damage to the crops that have'

low places are drowned out and
anything that has been seeded
down, the seed' has4been run off
and is a complete loss. , The heavy
rain Friday washed out the ,big
cement arch bridge between the
6th and 7th concessions on the
telephone roads.

their third meeting at the home
of Mrs. W. J. F. Bell, on May 12,
with president Miss' Marie Sin-
clair in charge.
Roll call was answered with "one
of the supper menus planned at
Woe." Minutes arere read by Miss'
Evelyn Hyde. Mrs. Bell demon-
strated different ways' to serve cit-
rus fruits, also dried fruits and
fruits that are in season. Mrs.
Lloyd Lovell spoke on "Good Foods
are economical."

citrus fruit once, prepare and serve
apples and rhubarb at least once,
prunes or any other dried fruits,

Miss Campbell chose a ballerina
length gown of blue nylon net ov-
er taffeta with matching head-
dress, and.carried a bouquet of
pink carnations. Miss' Elliott was
costumed in a ballerina length
gown of pink nylon over taffeta
with matching headdress, and car-
ried blue carnations. Cheryl MouS-
Seau, was frocked in yellow nylon
aver taffeta with matching head-
dress with pihk nosegay.
Howard Green's, Clinton, was
groomsman, while Don Mousseau
and Norman Elliott, ushered.
The reception for sixty guests
was held at the Dominion, House,
Zurich, Mrs. Mousseau received in
a navy ticatina dress with acces-
sories in white, with pink carnat-
ion corsage. MrS. Elliott chose a
flowered crepe dress and wore a
corsage of yellow carnations.
A three tier wedding cake cen-
tered the bridal table, which was
flanked with' red roses, with white
and pink tapers completing the
decorations. •
For a trip to Montreal and Ot-
tawa, the bride wore a pink' coat
and navy dress, with navy and
white accessories, and a corsage
of white carnations. Mr. and Mrs.
Elliott will reside in Clinton.

Toronto, Paris,• Stratford, Grand
Bend, Seaforth, Clinton and Hen-
sall.

ment will be in Clinton Cemetery.
