A quiet wedding took place in
Trinity United Church,. Toronto,
On. Saturday .afternoon; May at
two .o'clock, when Jeanne Muriel,
younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William J. Vodden, Clinton,, be-
came the bride of Leonard Lund,
Toronto, .sen of. Mrs. Marie Lund,
Vancouver, and the late Mr.
Lund,
The church was decorated with
cedar, fern and snapdragon, Rev,
Dr, D. Crosley Hunter performed
the marriage ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a street length,
sleeveless dress of turquoise Silk
organza over a flowered: back-
ground made oni princess lines with
flared skirt, high neckline and
white hat, long white gloves and
corsage of pink carnations and
white. 'mums.
The matron of honour, Mrs.
George A. McCall, Clinton., sister
of the bride, wore old rose, flow-
ered, silk dress with elbow-length
sleeves, gored-skirt, pink hat, long
white gloves and corsage of pink
carnations and white 'mums.

of the bride was groomsman
The bride's mother wore a gray
flowered, silk dress with white ac..
cessories and corsage of yellow
rosebuds, blue and yellow 'mums
and cornflowers,.
The bride's gift to the matron of
honor was a crescent pin, set with
rhinestones and pearls.
The groom's gift to the best man

After a wedding dinner at West
Point Inn, Mimico, the table being
centred by a two-tier wedding cake
in pink and white, the happy coup-
le left on a short wedding trip,
the bride wearing a brown silk
bengaline duster coat with brown
and white accessories.

the eight acre chicken farm they
have.purchased from Mr, Stryker,
on the sixth of Goderich Township,
People are complaining about
the late season this year, when the
ground was covered with snow on
the fourth of May. But 48 years
ago, the late Major Robert Sloan
and the writer,. (J. R. Stiriing),
drove to Porter's Hall in a cutter;
with good sleighing on the Forth
of May.

if at all possible.
The Dorcas Outfit was on dis-
play and the committee in charge,
Mrs. Dutot, Mrs. A. Rathwell and
Mrs. Deeves were commended for
their efforts.
Mrs, John Grigg read a letter
from Mrs. Gallway, Toronto,
thanking the ladies for the excel!.

Clinton Branch of the Cancer
Furad.
A invitation will be extended to
the WA of Trinity Church, Bay-
field to attend a joint meeting in
St, James' Church and tea after-
wards, at Mrs. Fred Middleton's.
The date was not set.
The president asked the mem-
bers to bring something for a
plant or slip exchange at the Jyne
meeting, to be held at the home
of Mrs. Ray Wise.
Mrs.. Gordon Steepe, RN, who
took the recent nursing course in
Wingham, gave a very interesting
and practical demonstration of
first aid bandaging. The members
would appreciate further instruct-
ion on this vital subject.,
Mrs. Ray Wise read an inspiring
article "Just for today" and also-
a poem entitled "Today."
During the afternoon progress
was made on a crib quilt.
Mrs. Middleton closed the meet-
ing with prayer after which the
usual bounteous lunch was ser-
ved,

London Road Club
Donates $10 To
Cancer Campaign
The April meeting of the Lon-
don Road Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Harry Plumsteel
with nine members and two visit-
ors present.
In the absence of the president
Mrs. Harry Plumsteel took charge
of the meeting which was opened
by singing "Old Black. Joe" follow-
ed by the creed. Roll call was
answered by each member naming
a flower' starting with the first
letter of her name.
It was decided to send $10 to
the cancer fund. Miss Plumsteel
entertained with a couple of in-
strumentals, which were enjoyed
very much. Mrs. Rooth had char-
ge of mystery box which was won
by Helen Anderson. Several mem-
bers helped to find a quilt which
had been quilted previously.
Miss Emma Plumsteel and Mrs.
Roy Plumsteel entertained with
two duets, "Beautiful Dreamer,"
and "Abide With Me." The meet-
ing closed with "God Save the
Queen," and a delicious lunch was
served by the hostessess Mrs. Har-
ry Plumsteel and Mrs. F, Ander-
son Jr. The next meeting will be
at the home of Mrs. F. Anderson,
Sr., hostesses will be Mrs. Rooth
and Mrs. Cann.

ficiated at a double ring ceremony
in the United Chureh, Riverhurst,
Saskatchewan, on Saturday, April
28, when marriage -vows were ex-
changed by Olive May Thomson

of Mr, and Mrs, William Thomson;
Riverhurst, and the groom'S par-
ents are Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Baird, Brucefield, Ontario,
Escorted by her father, the bride
wore an ankle-length gown of
white bridal satin, with doable ny-
lon net over-skirt and panels of
Chantilly lace, a bolero of match-,
ing lace, sweetheart head dress ad-
orned with sequins and he carried
a bouquet of American Beauty
roses.
Joan Woodard, Regina, as
bride's maid was gowned in a
floor-lengthSes dress of blue taffeta
with overskirt of blue appliqued
nylon net and bolero of matching
net, Her headdress was of blue
nylon net adorned with sequins.
She carried a bouquet of yellow
'mums.
Gordon Mooney, Regina, was
groomsman and the usher was
James Elaschuk, Riverhurst.
At the reception held in the
church parlors, the bride's mother.
wore a pink shot taffeta with navy
accessories and corsage of . pink
carnations. The groom's mother
chose a rose crepe dress and navy
accessories with a corsage of white
carnations.
For a wedding trip to Clinton,
Ontario, where they are making
their home, the bride donned a
navy suit with pink accessories.
Telegrams of congratulations
were read from Prince Albert,.
Saskatchewan, and Victoria, Brit-
ish Columbia. Guests froin a dist-
ance besides the groom's mother,
were Misses Margaret and May
Nevin, Brandon, Manitoba; Mrs.
Douglas Jones, Clinton, (sister or
the groom); Melvin Cooper', Sea-
forth.
